Rose and her friends had been walking for an hour and Tracy still hadn’t said a word. She was so furious. Nobody dared to ask what had happened. But Rose had to know where they were going. She opened her mouth to ask Tracy and discuss it with her, but Tracy sat on a rock and began sobbing.
“Tracy, what’s the matter?”
“She poisoned him! My mother poisoned my father! And she’s not even my mother! She killed my real mother as well as my father! Now Trudy’s the heir while I have to run from home! That’s the matter!” Tracy shouted.
“You have always helped me since the day I came. You never let me down. Now I’m not going to let you down either! We’re going back there to defeat the queen!”
Tracy stopped sobbing, but didn’t move.
“You have to get home, Rose! I can’t slow you down.”
Beth, who hadn’t said anything so far, began speaking:
“Collin told me that Rosemary is a Rose. If we help her bloom, then maybe she can defeat the queen easily. Roses have that power. Otherwise the queen will defeat you.”
Rose looked suspiciously at Beth. That was a great idea! But how come Beth had said it? And how come she knew so much about Roses all of a sudden? Rose didn’t trust Beth one bit. And it wasn’t because she was jealous on her for being Tracy’s best friend.
“Beth, that’s a great idea, but what’s ‘blooming’?” Tracy asked.
“It is how the Roses summon their power .Only Roses know how to bloom and-”
Beth didn’t have a chance to continue, because a loud noise echoed the whole kingdom. It was more or less like an explosion…only worse. When it was over everything looked as before and Beth was about to continue when she noticed that Rose wasn’t paying attention anymore. She had noticed a young couple in the distance walking hand in hand. They looked strangely familiar to her.
“Hello, I trying to explain something and it concerns you all, so please listen, because I’m not repeating this.” Beth said rather annoyed.
As the couple was getting nearer Rose’s face began to lighten up. She recognized the only two people in her world that would come after her. Without thinking she rushed and hugged them. She could leave at last…but did she really want to leave? She had to help Tracy first, but at least she had her friends.
But something felt out of place. She felt out of place. Jacob and Sarah looked at her like she was the last thing they had expected to see.
“Hi, Rose! We didn’t think you’d be here, but it’s nice all the same to have our best friend back, isn’t it, Sarah?”
Sarah nodded, and Rose was now fully aware that something had gone wrong. Tracy, Beth and Collin had followed her, but did not interrupt her thoughts.
“But if you’re not looking for me…what are you doing here? I thought you still cared about me. I thought you’d come after me. But these people I’ve known only for a few weeks care more about me than you ever did. And I can’t believe it. What has happened?”
“Rose, don’t understand us wrong; we do care about you, just that the spell worked better than expected. Neither of us remembered you, so Sarah and I got together. I love her more than I would have loved you. We’re here in our honeymoon” Jacob said.
And with that he kissed Sarah gently. Rose felt her heart break into small pieces and those small pieces break into smaller ones. With that kiss Jacob had slaughtered her heart. Tracy rushed to her friend in order to help her, but Rose had already fainted.
