Chapter 25

Your POV

"Vivian!"

It was blocked by Chiyo and Riko and fell to the ground, earning us another point. After the whistle blew I heard a grunt in frustration and a time out from the other team.

"What the hell is your problem!?"

I looked over to the other side of the court.

"I-I uh-"

"Either clean up your act, or I'll make sure you're on the bench for the next two years. Got it?"

The girl just quickly nodded and looked ready to cry.

The game continued and we were now at match point. Chiyo set the ball but it was dug up by one of the girls and tossed to the setter. It was then set once again to Vivian but Mira, our libero, dug it up just in time.

I set it to Riko.

Three blockers.

She spiked past their hands.

It was almost dug up but hit the ground before they could get to it.

I heard the blow of the whistle and cheers of the crowd.

We did it.

I ran to Chiyo and Riko and pulled them into a hug and cried. We were going to nationals as third years. I felt someone jump on me and turned to see the rest of the team running to us for a hug with tears in their eyes.

I looked up to the stands to see Hikari standing there and I held my fist out to her and the others followed.

We said our thanks to the team and walked out to the hall. I saw Kou and Tetsu standing there waiting for us and I ran and jumped on them knocking the three of us to the ground while the team laughed behind me.

"We're going to nationals! I can't believe it!" I yelled. "Hikari!" I jumped up and ran over to her, pulling her into a hug.

We hugged for a minute until I let go and turned to the team.

"Alright ladies! There's only a couple months until nationals so we have a lot of practicing to do! Come on!" I put my hand out and the girls crowded around putting their hands in.

"NE-KO-MA!" We cheered and laughed.

While laughing I looked over and down the hall a bit I saw Vivian and the girl from earlier. I couldn't make out what they were saying but suddenly Vivian stormed off in the other direction.

"I'll be right back.." I told the others and walked over to her. "Are you okay?" I asked and she flinched.

"Oh! Uh- Y/N right? Congratulations on going to nationals!" She said sheepishly.

"Thanks! But, I heard what Vivian said during time out. Are you okay?"

"Um yeah. This happens all the time."

"But I don't understand. You're a good setter. Why would she treat you like that?" I asked.

"I don't really know myself.. But thank you for your concern." She bowed, thanking me. "I better get going before she yells at me again.." She was about to walk away before I grabbed her shoulder.

"Hey, just know, you've always got a friend here in Nekoma." I smiled at her and walked away.

"What was that about?" Tetsurou asked me.

"Vivian, their captain, is a massive bitch and I was making sure she was okay."

Hikari snickered beside me, "I remember Vivian, we also beat them last year."

"Yep, now come on, I'm starving!"
