Chapter 24

Your POV

He pulled me into his arms and held me tightly.

"Who the hell was that?" He mumbled angrily and I slightly flinched at the tone.

I sniffled, "An ex, or rather an ex best friend.."

He held me tighter and I quietly squeaked.

"Koutarou stop!" Kiyomi yelled, "You're hurting her!"

She pulled me away from him.

"S-sorry.. Let's just go."

The four of us headed back to their house without even getting what we came for and sat in Kou's room.

"Y/N.. What exactly happened?" Kana asked.

I sighed, "His name is Hao. We used to be best friends along with a girl named Mei back in junior high. I.. ended up falling for him and eventually we started dating. Soon after that he started to become abusive.  About two months later.. I found out he was cheating on me with Mei. We had a big fight and broke up. Then he ended up cheating on Mei. She accused me of being with him behind her back." My voice started cracking.

"We fought and I said some really, really hurtful things and then she.. Let's just say she's not here anymore. He didn't even come to the funeral.. I confronted him about it and he blamed me for her death and a month later he moved away and I never saw him again. Tetsurou and Hikari are the only ones who knew."

"Y/N.." Kiyomi said. She jumped up and hugged me. "I lost a friend a couple years back. I understand how you feel."

"I'm sorry for your loss."

"Don't be. Now, we'll let you two sleep. Come on Kana."

They both left the room and it became silent. I looked over to Kou and he was staring at the ground with a frown.

"Kou-?"

"I'm sorry." He cut me off.

"..What?"

"For earlier. Sorry."

I scooted over to him and turned his head to look at me. "It's fine. You didn't hurt me." I said softly.

"But-"

I leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his lips. "I promise."

He paused for a moment before grabbing my cheek and leaning in and I did the same.

He kissed me gently and slid his fingers into my hair pulling me closer.

A couple seconds later we pulled away. I looked down flustered but he grabbed my chin and made me look at him.

His face turned red and he leaned back and covered his face with his hand.

"Let's sleep."

We were in the final game of the prelims, if we win this game we're going to nationals.

It was the third set and we were 21-22.

"Nice serve!" The girls yelled.

I spun the ball in my hands as the whistle screeched across the court.

I stepped forward and tossed the ball in the air. I ran and jumped hitting it the the other side of the court where it slammed down on the floor.

I could hear the cheers of the crowd above and from my team.

"Tsk."

Looking over to the other side of the court, there stood Vivian. The captain of the girls Aoba Johsai team. She stood there irritated and I just smirked in response.

I got back in position as the whistle blew once again. Unfortunately one of the girls dug it up before it hit the floor and was passed to their setter. She was smart and a really good setter. However this time, something was off.

"Vivian!" She set it to her.
