CHAPTER THREE

☽ 𓆉

ESTELLA COULDN'T believe that in a matter of hours she was thrown into the world of Greek Gods and monsters. On a normal day at this time she would get out of school. But now, she stared wide-eyed at two mechanical bulls fighting kids her age.

"Oh man," Annabeth said, standing next to Estella who also watched the battle.

"Border patrol, to me!" A gruff voice shouted. Percy looked confused at her words as if he never heard that phrase before. Join the club, Estella thought.

"It's Clarisse. Come on, we have to help her," Annabeth said.

At her words, Percy opened his pen and out came a bronze sword.

"Whoa," Estella said, quite dazed at the glistening metal.

"Pretty cool, huh?" Percy said with a smile. For a moment, he looked like a normal teenager. But when he stared back at the battle, his face grew grim. "Tyson, Estella, you guys stay here. I don't want you getting hurt."

"No! We need them, especially Tyson," Annabeth said.

"Annabeth, Estella doesn't have a weapon, let alone fighting experience. And Tyson is mortal. He got lucky with the dodge balls but he can't—"

Estella frowned as Percy spoke for her. She wanted to tell them that she was more than capable of fighting, but once she stared back at the hill, she grew a bit unsure.

"Percy, do you know what those are up there? Colchis bulls, made by Hephaestus himself. We can't fight them without Medea's Sunscreen SPF 50,000. We'll get burned to a crisp."

Annabeth's words made Estella want to stay back even more. Maybe Percy was right— she was a little too inexperienced to be fighting off bulls that could melt her face off.

"Medea's what?"

Annabeth rummaged through her backpack. "I had a jar of tropical coconut scent sitting on my nightstand at home. Why didn't I bring it?"

"Look, I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm not going to let Tyson and Estella get fried."

"Percy—" Annabeth started

"Guys, stay back. I'm going in."

Tyson, as well as Estella, tried to protest, but Percy was already headed towards the campers. His figure got smaller and smaller until his body was almost unrecognizable among the others.

"You guys come if you hear my command," Annabeth said suddenly and ran after Percy.

Estella and Tyson stood near the street, watching the chaos unfold. Annabeth joined the battle like it was second nature, and the campers listened to her with no hesitation. Estella wondered who her Godly parent was. Maybe Ares?

The dark-haired girl had to look away from the scene for a few moments. Her head began to pound as she stared at all the moving people.

"Percy needs help," Tyson said suddenly.

Estella looked up at Tyson, whose face was twisted with anger.

"What's wrong buddy?" Estella asked.

"Percy needs help. Bulls hurt him."

Estella looked back at the fight, seeing a boy that was possibly Percy, lying on the ground clutching his ankle. If Tyson was correct, and that was him, then he needed aid.
