CHAPTER TWENTY
☽ 𓆉

CHIRON SUMMONED Percy and Estella to the Big House as they trained. He told them how he fixed their problems with Meriwether Prep. Honestly, Estella had forgotten that there were real-world consequences to what happened in the gym. Either way, Chiron helped them out and the police weren't looking at them anymore.

"How did you manage that?" Percy asked.

"I merely suggested that the mortals had seen something different that day— a furnace explosion that was not your fault."

"You just said that and they bought it?"

"I manipulated the Mist. Someday, when you're ready, I'll show you how it's done." He glanced at Estella. "Though, you can probably control it right now, young one."

"Me? Why?" Estella asked.

"Your mother is the Goddess of Mist. Most of her children can pick up the skill or Mist Control fairly easily, as it's in your nature."

"Nice," Percy said and gave her a high-five. "So can we go back to Meriwether next year?"

The two rekindled after Percy won the race. He apologized to her for acting weird and said that he was overwhelmed at the thought of the Prophecy and Kronos. Estella made him realize there was no black or white to this upcoming war.

"Oh no, they still expelled you both. Your headmaster, Mr. Bonsai said you both had— how did he put it?— un-groovy karma that disrupted the school's educational aura. But you're not in any legal trouble, which is a relief to both of your parents. Oh! Speaking of..."

Chiron handed Estella a coin and Percy a cellphone. "You should speak to them."

Estella left the two with a wave and headed over to a nearby water fountain. She quickly summoned an Iris Message to her father.

He sat on their couch, watching TV. His eyes widened when he saw her misty image in the middle of their living room.

"Stella!" He rushed to her. "Sweetie, how are you? Are you safe? Your camp director told me he solved the problems you had at Meriwether, thank Gods."

"Yeah, dad. I'm safe."

Estella hesitated.

"I actually, wanted to talk to you about something. I don't want to go back to school. I want to stay here, at camp. I have a lot to learn."

Her father sighed. "I knew this would happen, one day. When you were born, I knew you were destined for more. I knew you were different, and I'm sorry if I made you feel that way."

Estella felt tears brim in her eyes.

"And yes, of course, you can stay at Camp," Manuel continued. "You need to achieve the destiny I dreamed for you. But make sure to come visit me on holidays."

Estella chuckled. "Of course, dad. Thank you so much."

"I love you, sweetie. Stay safe for me."

"Always," Estella said.

With one last smile, she swiped the image of her dad away. To say the least, she was ecstatic she was able to stay at Camp, rather than go to another boarding school. She would miss her father dearly, though.
