Chapter 10

He didn't want to fight.

Not this time.

He just didn't want to.

He was tired of fighting.

...

But that got him killed.

//

"What...?" He was surprised that he wasn't dead. Well-- he was dead, but he wasn't. Makes no sense, I'm aware.

The Gaster Blaster that hit him dealt KARMA to his HP. It glitched out, somehow. He's technically both dead and alive. If only he was a cat. (I'll explain that joke later, if you don't get it)

He saw text appear in front of him.

You can't give up...

Papyrus! Stay DETERMINED...

Determined?

...Holy shit.

"I'm-- I'm like tha' kid. I wonda' if I.."

He moved his hand around and 'summoned' the menu.

LOAD    SAVE    RESET

He said nothing, but was hesitant. What would happen if he hit LOAD? He didn't save anywhere; maybe it would go to Frisk's last SAVE.

He probably shouldn't save as a ghost.

RESET...

What would that do? Would it bring him back to life? Where would it bring him?

His SOUL (and, unknowingly, his eyes) turned Purple. Perseverance. He looked down at his chest. He blinked.

"..Sweet."

His head snapped to look back up, when the text disappeared and wrote something else.

He hummed, thinking.

"Well-- my SOUL's changing. Soul's a cliche ass name, but I like it."

He grazed the letters with his hand.

He returned home. It seemed as if it was just before he got into a fight with his brother. He teleported back to the school to check on Classic. He wasn't there.

So he looked in the tree.

Surprise

Surprise.

He was up there.

Soul climbed up the tree, surprising the smaller floof. Yet, he did not make a motion or say anything.

"Hey. Sorry tha' I was tha' reason." That's all he wanted to say. It was his fault wasn't it? The omega looked up at him and shook his head. "No, no. It wasn't yo' fault."

Soul sighed. "Ya ready ta talk 'bout it?"

Classic didn't respond.

"I ain't leavin' without an answer." He was stubborn. Classic would have to throw him out of the tree.

"I dunno."

"Maybe I shoulda' been specific. Yes. Or. No." He huffed. The smol wolf sighed. "Okay.."

"Dust is jus' an ass. Blamin' shit on me 'cause he won't admit he fucked up." Classic grumbled.

" 'Ey, he ain't worth y'time. Someone who's gon' do that ain't worth ya regrettin' a break up." RC retorted, lighting a cigarette. The omega nodded. "..Actually, you're right."

"Haha. These thangs happen. If you're tha' hurt by it, go make it righ'. If you can keep goin', then don' think 'bout 'im."

Classic smiled. So did Soul.

His SOUL turned Pink. LOVE (no, not that kind)

The smol fluff noticed. "Uh... Was your SOUL always PINK?" He asked, sniffing, tilting his head. Soul huffed. "Eheh... Funny story..."

Soul explained, because I'm a little lazy hh.

"I'mma just go wallow in a puddle of shame. Bye."

He fell out of the tree, onto his feet. Classic leaned over the branches. "Uh, don't drown." Soul chuckled. "No promises."

Pappy appeared to Classic a little later. "You should ask him out."

(If you didn't get the joke of "If only he was a cat")

(Schrödinger's cat is the phenomenon that the cat is both dead and alive until it is observed as one or the other)

(I'm a nerd, I know.)
