Chapter Thirteen - Investigation

After being invited by the Belladonnas to rest in their home, Zatt and Ganodi grew more and more suspicious of the White Fang. Sensing danger, Zatt and Ganodi decide to conduct an investigation on the White Fang. They begin walking the marketplace in Kuo Kuana in search for information. 

Ganodi: I wonder how many people here support the White Fang.

Zatt: I'm not sure. Considering how much discrimination the Faunus face, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the Faunus here support them. 

That fact seemed to trouble Ganodi. Despite the clear terroristic acts of the White Fang, people still seemed to support them. 

Ganodi: I still don't understand how people can support the White Fang. They've killed innocent people!

Zatt: The Faunus face constant discrimination. You heard what Blake said. The Faunus were essentially pushed to this island. 

Ganodi took a moment to reflect on Zatt's words. As she did, she noticed a suspicious individual buying some fruit. Hooked to the man's belt was a Grimm mask used by the White Fang. She was quick to point him out to Zatt.

Ganodi: Something's off about that guy. 

Zatt: I agree. Maybe he could enlighten us on the White Fang's plans here.

As Zatt said this, the man turned around and began walking towards them. Zatt and Ganodi pretended to carry out a conversation about a planned walk to the beach. Once the man walked past them, Zatt laid out a plan to Ganodi. 

Zatt: We'll split up and follow him. I'll follow him on the ground while you tail him from the rooftops. 

Ganodi: What if he notices us? 

Zatt: Then we'll have to move quickly before he alerts the others. 

With that, Zatt and Ganodi split up to follow the mysterious man. Zatt and Ganodi kept their distance as they followed him. Zatt moved through multiple groups of people while Ganodi stealthily navigated through the rooftops. As the two Jedi tailed the man, he stops and chats with a Chameleon Faunus wearing a Grimm mask who was kneeling against the wall of a hut. 

???: Right on time, Sister Ilia. 

Ilia: I've been briefed on my mission. 

???: Then everything can proceed as planned. You are doing a great service for the White Fang. 

Ilia: I understand. This is all for the betterment of the Faunus. 

???: Sometimes, sacrifices must be made for the greater good, Sister Ilia. The Belladonnas have made their choice. Now they must pay the price for siding with the enemy. 

Zatt and Ganodi listened in on the conversation while hiding in plain sigh. As the conversation ended, Ilia begins walking away from the man. Zatt then signals Ganodi to follow Ilia. As Ganodi begins following Ilia, Zatt continues tailing the White Fang member. Zatt then follows the White Fang member all the way to an abandoned hut. The White Fang member then puts on his Grimm mask when Zatt ambushes him. Zatt pulls out his Lightsaber and attacks the White Fang member, but the White Fang member blocks the attack with a sword. 

Zatt: What are you planning?!

White Fang Member: Do you think I would tell you? 

Zatt and the White Fang member then engage in a heated duel. At one point, Zatt uses the Force to push him off his feet. As Zatt moves in to restrain him, the White Fang member kicks Zatt in the face. The White Fang member then gets up and tackles Zatt to the ground. Zatt manages to get the White Fang member off of him. As Zatt reaches for his Lightsaber, the White Fang member grabs Zatt by the leg and yank him away from his Lightsaber. Zatt soon breaks free and manages to overpower the White Fang member using the Force to enhance his strength. Once Zatt got the upper hand, he grabs his Lightsaber and holds it to his neck. 

Zatt: Tell me everything about your plans!

White Fang Member: You're too late. The White Fang has already set it's plans in motion.

Zatt: Don't do anything stupid.

White Fang Member: The Belladonnas have made their choice. They betrayed the cause. They would have us submit to those who would enslave us! 

Zatt: It doesn't matter. Violence is not the way to peace for the Faunus. There are better ways to achieve peace.

White Fang Member: The only path to peace is the destruction of our enemies. Soon, the Humans will feel our pain and fear us. My life is not yours to take, and my secrets come with me. See you in hell. Long live the White Fang!

The White Fang then grabs Zatt's arm and thrusts his Lightsaber into his own chest. He lets out a groan before his dies from his self inflicted wound. Zatt deactivates his Lightsaber and checks the White Fang member's body. 

Zatt: Damn it....

Zatt then checks the White Fang member's pockets and finds an envelope. Zatt opens the envelope and reads it. The letter details about a plot to assassinate Ghira and Kali Belladonna as well as kidnapping Blake. 

Zatt: That's not good....I better warn the others!

With the plot against the Belladonnas uncovered, Zatt knew that there was little time. Zatt would have to rush to the Belladonna Household to warn everyone of the plot while Ganodi tailed Ilia to uncover her part in this plot. With time against them, Zatt and Ganodi moved in quickly to end the White Fang's plot before the Belladonnas and any other innocents could be harmed.
