Months have passed since the Fall of Beacon and Remnant is vulnerable. In the Land of Darkness, Salem gathers her most trusted allies to discuss their next move. In the room with Salem were her fellow conspirators Arthur Watts and Hazel Rainart as well as her most trusted assassin Tyrian Callows. A recovered Cinder enters the room with Emerald and Mercury at her side. Soon enough, Darth Jadus enters the room. Cinder clutches her hands in anger, but dares not make a sound.

Watts: You must be the Sith Lord Salem spoke of. You made quite the impression in Beacon.

Darth Jadus: I struck fear into the hearts of countless beings unfortunate enough to survive. Those who witnessed my power know the truth.

Darth Jadus then directs her attention towards Cinder. He could feel her anger and resentment clearly. It brought him satisfaction.

Watts: I've half a mind to thank the little girl that bested you.

Tyrian then begins to snicker as he glances over to Cinder.

Tyrian: If I were you, I'd hunt her down. Find her and, well, she took your eye, didn't she?

As Tyrian cackles, Cinder tries to speak, but only a faint whisper could be heard. Emerald leaned in towards to hear her more clearly.

Watts: Pathetic. Why did you even...

Before Watts could finish his sentence, Salem entered the room. All bowed to her with the exception of Darth Jadus. Salem then turned her attention to Watts.

Salem: Watts. Do you find such malignance necessary?

Watts: I apologize, ma'am. I'm not particularly fond of failure.

Salem: Then I see no reason for your cruelty towards young Cinder. She's become our Fall Maiden, destroyed Beacon Tower, and most importantly, killed dear Ozpin. So I'm curious, to what failures are you referring?

Watts: Well, the girl with the Silver Eyes.

Hazel: Yes. We've dealt with their kind before. How is it a novice was able to best one of us?

Watts: My thoughts exactly. Even without her new power, it should have been effortless.

Salem: It is because of the Maiden's power. Make no mistake, Cinder, you hold the key to our victory. But your newfound strength brings with it a crippling weakness. Which is why you will remain by my side as we continue your treatment.

Cinder bowed her head to Salem, but Darth Jadus intervenes.

Darth Jadus: Your trust in this one is misplaced. She is a broken slave cursed to fail. She may possess the power you speak of, but her body as well as her will are weak. If she is the key to anything, it is the key to failure.

Cinder's right eye glanced to the Sith Lord with anger in her heart. She resisted the urge to attack him. She instead remained silent.

Salem: Dr. Watts, you are to take Cinder's place and meet with our informant in Mistral.

Watts: Very good.

Salem: Tyrian, I want you to continue your hunt for the Spring Maiden.

Tyrian: Gladly.

Salem: And Hazel, I'm sending you to the leader of the White Fang. Adam Taurus has arranged the meeting. The boy continues to prove loyal. Ensure that Sienna Khan feels the same.

Darth Jadus took note of Hazel's assignment. In recent days, Darth Jadus had taken an interest in the White Fang and Adam Taurus specifically. Their ability to cause fear and panic interested him greatly.

Salem: What of you, Darth Jadus?

Darth Jadus: I have my own matters to attend to in Mistral. My agents move as we speak.

As Darth Jadus speaks, Emerald notices Cinder's gesture and gains Salem's attention.

Salem: Speak, child.

Emerald: She wants to know... What about the girl?

Watts: What about her? Seems to me that this is Cinder's problem, not ours.

At that point, Cinder slams her fists in rage as she glares at Watts.

Salem: That's enough. Tyrian?

Tyrian: Yes, my lady?

Salem: Spring can wait. Find the girl that did this to Cinder. And bring her to me.

Tyrian begins to laugh as he gleefully accepts the mission. Salem then speaks to her allies.

Salem: Because of your efforts, Beacon has fallen. And Haven will be next.

As Salem said this, everyone left the room with the exception of Cinder as well as Emerald and Mercury. They were then approached by Darth Jadus.

Darth Jadus: What a truly pathetic sight, Cinder Fall.

Emerald and Mercury then moved towards the Sith Lord, to which the Sith Lord simply chuckles.

Darth Jadus: If I wanted to kill her, I would've done it at Beacon. You desire vengeance on the Silver Eyed Girl. But it wasn't her that left you in this wretched state. It was your own arrogance.

Cinder became more and more angry at the Sith Lord's words. Darth Jadus showed no sign of concern. As Darth Jadus was preparing to leave, he decided to leave some parting words to Cinder.

Darth Jadus: Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you; tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know which I must force you to face; tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you; and tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you.

Those words sent chills down Cinder's spine as Darth Jadus left the room. It became clear to Cinder that Darth Jadus intended to make her life a living hell. And to her already wounded pride, it was working. For now, all Cinder could do was endure Darth Jadus's torment and plot her revenge against the one responsible for her condition.
