*A Few Nights Later*
I was walking to me and Free's spot when I felt some foreign presence to my right. See, when you spend a ridiculous amount of time outdoors, preferably in nature your senses tend to adapt to the life around you. You'd be able to tell if there was something different or foreign in the forest due to the atmosphere of the place. From the attitude of the animals to even the way the wind blows. It's hard to explain unless you've experienced it yourself. I turned my head to find Silas hiding behind a tree while watching Free and the deer. I was deciding whether I should come out of the bushes or just watch when the deer noticed Silas. That's when Silas promptly whipped behind the tree once more. I saw Free walking away with the deer so I shrugged my shoulders and made my way to our spot. I found Free already there lying down on the floor, alone. I sat down and put his head on my lap.
"It was Silas yeah?" Free asked with his eyes closed.
"Mhm, he's gonna be doing this for a while." Free nodded.
"Then how 'bout we skip the night visits just for the next few days. 'Till he's gone, okay?" I scoffed at him as he lay completely still.
"You had a talk with Theodore Glass, the owner of the Raging Bulls. You've been wondering how you could help BC Sol improve and he gave you an answer. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but you struck a deal with Glass, didn't you?" Free sighed sadly and opened his eyes. He sat up and sat right next to me.
"You aren't too mad, are you?" He asked innocently. I chuckled.
"Why would I be mad? I'm more proud. I'm proud that you'd leave the thing you'd love the most just to help it improve." I nudged his shoulder. He looked up at me strangely.
"But, I'm not leaving to help you improve, It's the team remember?" He looked at me with such a blank face that I almost let it fly past my stupid mind.
"W-wait. Wha?" I muttered. Free scoffed playfully and cuddled me. I was still frozen in place. Did he just say what he meant to say? Or was that just a typo? What am I still doing in this world? Why are oranges orange? Who was the 31st president of the United States of America? Why am I asking such random questions to myself?! I finally came to my senses and pushed him playfully.
"This is why I can never meditate properly anymore! You're always in my mind!" I cried. Just then I realized what I had said and my pupils dilated. My face turned red and I died then and there. They're gonna put 'died of embarrassment in front of her just-realized crush' on my gravestone. Free was in hysterics as I groaned on the floor. Free then lay down next to me and grabbed my hand.
"So you like me then?" I stared up at the sky and thought long and hard about what would happen after tonight.
"Mhm," I said sheepishly.
"That's cute, I like you too." My eyes widened even more if possible and I turned to face him to find his beautiful, dull eyes staring into mine.
"Uh-well-un" I stammered. I honestly didn't know what to say. Free chuckled and took my hand he was still holding and just held it there. I know the action was small. But that didn't stop me from fan-girling hard.
"Help me, Athena! Death is upon me!" Athena sighed tiredly.
"If you die you won't be able to see him again." She lulled on. My eyes widened again. I began whimpering internally.
"Ugh!" Athena groaned. "Free! Do something to get her to shut up!" She screamed even if Free couldn't hear her. But thankfully he finally used his words instead of his actions.
"Do you want to be my girlfriend, Ally? It's a bit lonely at the top." He smiled at me and his eyes shone with admiration and a hint of love. Finally, I could make out something in his eyes. What if it's too soon? We only met a few months ago. Usually, it would take much longer before you realise you like someone. But I guess with all the time he has to himself gives him a lot of time to think. I looked down at the ground so hard, I may as well have burned a hole through it. It was quiet. Really quiet. I think I need some time to think. But I didn't really have much time. He's about to leave soon. Wait, if I accept now, we'll still be seas apart. Suddenly, an idea sparked in my mind right in the middle of my own controversy. I took 3 deep breaths to calm myself down but I still didn't speak. I was afraid that something embarrassing would leave my mouth instead of what I wanted to say. And I'm afraid he won't like me anymore after what I want to say. I spent so much time contemplating on what to do I didn't even notice the glint in Free's eyes dying and regret and sadness building up. He sat up abruptly and turned away from me.
"Sorry, I get it. You're not ready. I should've known. I should-" I sat up too and grabbed his chin to face me.
"Long-distance relationships don't work. Trust me. When you come back to BC Sol, and you will be coming back," I added firmly. "I'll give you my final answer kay? Then you'll have even more of a reason to come back." Free looked at me shocked before smiling warmly and hugging me tightly, knocking me to the ground in the process. I laughed and closed my eyes as Free wrapped his arms around me. I can't believe I said all that without stuttering!
"I'm definitely coming back. 'Cuz if you don't say yes, I'll have to keep you in my arms forever 'till you do."
"And what a shame that would be." I giggled sarcastically. Damn, I sound like some flustered, anime, schoolgirl. I relaxed into the sweet embrace of Free and drifted off into a warm, welcoming dream.
