Can we talk about the holiday special? It was... *chef's kiss*
Nonsense chapter is out now about it.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special: THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVERNini
He what? He just said what!!? I look at Ricky with wide eyes."Ricky, are you feeling ok?" I ask him.
"Yeah, why?" he answers as if what he just said wasn't shocking.
"I'm gonna go get the doctor," EJ says, leaving.
"What did you do to him?!" Jessica screams at me.
"Nothing!" I defend. I didn't know what was wrong with him.
"Yes, Ricky seems to have memory loss," EJ says, coming in with Dr. Harris.
He looks around before speaking. "Where's his dad?"
"On his way," Big Red answers.
"Ok, well-"
"Sorry I'm late," Mike says, walking in.
"Good, you're here," Dr. Harris says.
"Why? What's going on?"
"Kids, would you please leave for a second?" he asks us.
We nod our heads and slowly leave. I'm confused about how this could've happened.
I look up from my phone to see them looking back at me. 'No,' I mouth.
Ricky
"What's your name?" Dr. Harris asks me."Ricky."
"No, your full name."
"Richard Michael Bowen."
"Where were you born?"
"Salt Lake City, Utah. I've been here my whole life."
"Who are your parents?"
"Michael and Lynne."
"When's your birthday, and how old are you?"
"December 22, 2002. I'm 17 going on 18."
Dr. Harris looks at my dad before talking. "Are all of his answers correct?"
"Yes, he seems perfectly fine."
"Ricky, for the most part, you don't seem to have any problems. With your head that is. You may still be a little groggy from the drug that has been in your system. Maybe your friends could remind you of some more recent stuff. Did you recognize all of the faces that were in here a second ago?" Dr. Harris asks.
"Yes... except one," I say hesitantly.
"I'd say it won't take long for you to remember everything. I'll leave you two alone for a second."
Once he's gone, my dad looks at me worriedly. "You really don't remember the past month or so?"
"Well..."
3rd POV
*Fifteen Minutes Later*
(Thoughts)
"Nini, Ricky wants to see you. Just you," Mike says, holding the door open for her.She slowly walks towards the door. At the same time, she gets three texts from Kourtney, Ashlyn, and Gina. All of them saying 'DO IT!!' She looks at them and shakes her head before walking in.
"Hey, Bubs. How are you feeling?" she asks. She still feels a little weird about what he said when he woke up. Ricky immediately notices a British accent.
"This doesn't have to be awkward," he says.
Nini chuckles, going to the chair next to him. "I know it doesn't, but it is."
"Why?" He asks, taking her hand and knowing exactly why.
She looks down at their hands then back up at his eyes. "Well, it's just that..." she trails off, trying to find the right words.
He looks at her with an eyebrow raised and watches as she tries to find her words. "It's just what?"
She takes her hand out of his and runs them over her face in frustration. She doesn't know what to say. "Sorry, I'm just trying to process everything right now."
Ricky feels terrible, thinking he made her uncomfortable with what he said earlier. He doesn't speak, letting her ease into this situation.
"Um..." He looks up at the sound of her voice.
"Yes?"
"What you said before... What were you talking about?"
He raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
He is not making this easy. "Um... you, uh... you said that... I was your girlfriend."
"Yeah. And?"
"I... I'm just a tad bit confused," she says delicately. Nini isn't sure what he does and does not remember, so it's just one step at a time.
"Why? I asked you out in sophomore year; you said yes; a few dates later, I asked you to be my girlfriend, and you said yes again. Where's the confusion?"
Seriously, he isn't making this easy. "Well, I just... ugh." Nini sighs in frustration, not sure what to do. Her eyes start darting around the room, looking anywhere but Ricky. He makes note of the British accent seeping through her words.
Ricky's head starts hurting from all the talking, so he closes his eyes for a second and looks at the ceiling.
*A Few Minutes of Awkward Silence Later*
"I love you."She looks up at him, completely confused. "What did you just say?" She heard him. Nini's fully aware of what he just said; she just wanted to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
"I love you." He was looking directly at her with a classic grin on his face.
She doesn't know what to say. Too many thoughts are swirling through her head. Ok, wait. If he doesn't remember we broke up, then that means he doesn't remember not saying that the first time around. So this means... Nini swallows the lump in her throat.
Ricky's sitting there, waiting for her to say something. "It's not like I'm leaving anytime soon, so take your time," he chuckles. Nini forces out a laugh as she questions what to do in her head.
"Um... this is gonna seem even more confusing than the way I'm acting right now, but... I need to tell you something."
"Ok, what is it?"
"Well... it's just that..."
Ricky gives her a minute or two before breaking the ice. "It's just what? That the girl I claimed not to know is actually my girlfriend. That I 'lost my memory'. That I made you uncomfortable when I said we were dating, which I'm sorry if I did by the way."
Nini looks at him with pure shock. "How did... You... What?!" she says all with confusion written on her face.
