Amelia

Still in a bit of a haze, I arrive home after a short stay in the hospital. Mom and Dad won't leave me alone for even a second.

I enter my bedroom, seeing the empty bottle of pills I used, my heart stopping as I see the crumpled note inside.

Reaching out to grab it, Dad snatches it. "I thought you took care of that." He says to Mom.

"I thought you were going to do that." She replies. "I'm sorry."

He frowns. "It's...It's fine. Just...it's fine."

"I'm sorry." I say quietly.

"It's fine." He repeats.

After lots of convincing, I'm finally allowed to be inside my own bedroom undisturbed.

I hear a slight mechanical whirling sound, glancing to the floor and seeing Robbie's remote controlled robot. It has a camera on it, the robots face looking up at me.

"Robbie, quit it." I groan, knowing he can hear me from the robot.

"No." The robot replies in a...robot voice.

"Yes. Leave me alone." I reply sternly.

"No." Robbie repeats.

I growl lowly. "Robbie, stop it! I'm tired, okay?!"

The robot looks down as if to contemplate something. "I just wanted to check on you."

"Well I'm just fine, so you can leave. Bye now." I push grumpily.

"I don't want to leave if you're sad." He replies.

"Since when did you care about my feelings?" I question.

"Since you looked dead in your bedroom after taking those pills." He explains.

I gulp. "You saw that, huh?"

He makes the robot nod.

"Hmph..." I sigh. "Well...you don't have to worry anymore, okay? I'm fine."

The robot wheels out of the room, and a few minutes later it comes back with a chocolate candy taped to it.

I take it, popping it into my mouth. "Thanks bud."

Without saying anything else, the robot leaves. Oh Robbie. I missed you. The real you. The one who always did stuff like this.

If any good can come out of my attempt, it's this. The fact that my brother actually loves me again.

Though I have mixed feelings about having survived, I try not to show it. God knows Mom and Dad don't need that right now.

With Cassidy and Presley going through their own stuff, I don't want to cause more drama than I already have.

Dad checks on me as I stare blankly up at my ceiling. "Hey bug."

"Hi." I mumble.

"You...okay?" He asks.

I shrug. "Peachy."
