Hope you all are enjoying! xx
I stretched out on the bed and rubbed my eyes open. I flew up in surprise as I looked around the unfamiliar room. I looked to my left and relaxed when I saw Alex's clothes on the floor, but Alex was nowhere to be found. I pulled on my old clothes and fixed my bouncy hair before walking out of his room.
I heard voices coming from the living room and stopped in my tracks. "So you and Summer get busy last night?" Jack asked wiggling his eyebrows. Alex tensed which made me question if this was as awkward for me as him. "No Jack, that would never happen." He replied sharply. "Last night was a mistake." He added between gritted teeth. I griped the wall behind me for support, 'A mistake?'. "But don't you like her?" Rian asked. "No, I don't like her..." He replied.
I felt my heart fall into the pit that was my stomach. My worst nightmares were coming true, that Alex finally realized I was a mistake. I ran back to his room and grabbed my bookbag before steadying m breath. I blinked back the water building in my eyes and lungs and stepped out.
"Hey I'm going to catch the bus." I mumbled. Every face in the room either blushed or went pale as a ghost. Alex struggled to stand, "You want me to drive you?" He choked out. "No I can get the bus, see you." I said hurrying out the door.
I paid my ticket and shuffled to the back of the bus before practically falling down on the seat. I pulled my legs up to my chest and buried my face into my knees. I gave up holding in the tears and let them fall freely down my face and soak into my jeans. Little did I know I missed my stop because of it and ended up missing school. It was one pm when I walked into class twenty minutes late.
"Hello Miss. Green, care to share why you are late?" My English teacher asked with a smirk. He was only four years older than me and knew my hatred for him. He was condescending and evil. "No." I mumbled. "What was that?" He asked walking to my desk. "No." I repeated louder. He smirked, "Fine, I hope you enjoy detention then." He said winking before turning away. I cringed as I flipped my books open.
I shoved my books back into my back pack and laid my head down on the desk as I waited for detention to start. I didn't bother lifting my head when I felt the wood shift as my teacher sat down. "I didn't want to put you in detention Summer." He said looking down. "Then why did you?" I mumbled. "I wanted more time with you." He smiled showing all his teeth. I groaned and got up taking my bag with me. As I opened the door his hand was on mine shutting the door. "Where do you think you're going?" He asked.
"You can't keep me here for that reason. I'm leaving." I stated. He laughed, "I think you're staying." He said stepping closer. My breath caught in my throat as the smell of his colonge reached my nose. I stepped back but my back pressed against the wall. "You have really pretty blue eyes." He said looking at my lips, not my eyes. His hand tightened around my wrist and stressed the skin around my cuts causing me to wince.
"MISS. GREEN TO THE FRONT DESK PLEASE." A voice boomed over the intercom. I took the chance and bolted through the door while he was distracted. My heart raced as I ran to the front office. I shoved through the wood door and froze when I saw Jack standing there with a smile. "Jack?" I said shocked. He nodded to the woman behind the desk and took my hand pulling me out. "Jack why are you here?" I asked tugging away. He let go and frowned, "I'm sorry Jack." I apologized. He shrugged, "Its okay, I just wanted to give you your scarf." He said sweetly.
"Thanks, I forgot it I guess." I mumbled as we walked down the sidewalk. "Yeah you left in a bit of a hurry." He said. "I was late." I replied signalling I didn't want to talk about it.
Jack walked me home and made sure I was okay before leaving me. I blocked out my mothers questions about the 'sleepover' and stowed away in my room doing homework. Alex never called or even texted me. I knew I had screwed up, I should have never let him convince me to sleep in his room. The next school day was canceled due to snow so I took the chance to visit the music shop.
I closed the door behind me and shook off the snow as I took my coat off. "Hi Mr. Gaskarth." I waved to the older man behind the counter. He smiled, "What are you doing out in this weather young lady?" He asked with a laugh. "I thought I would visit, is Alex here?" I asked. He shook his head, "Nope, sorry." He shrugged. I nodded, "That's okay, I can wait." I said as I walked to my familiar corner.
I had fallen asleep with my head against one of the shelves and was woken up by Mr. Gaskarth. "Sweetie, I think you should go home." He said softly. I looked around and saw the store was empty and it was pitch dark outside. I thanked him and left into the dark alone. I pulled my coat close to my face as I pushed past the falling snow....
