Alex's POV-

I walked into my apartment still distracted by the scene that had just occurred. I knew for a fact my heart had stopped. I placed my keys on the table next to our door and paused. Jack was sitting on the couch, alone. Normally he would say 'Hey' or some sarcastic joke, but he was silent. "Jack?" I asked with hesitation. He looked up from the floor, "We need to talk..." He said with eyes full of confusion. "Um, okay. What's up?" I said trying to sound cheery as I sat down across from him.

He scratched his stubbly chin trying to find the words. "I saw something today." He started. "Okay...what was it?" I asked. "Did you know Summer...um.." He could barely get the words out. "Summer what? Is she okay?" I asked now worried. 'Did she call while I was gone? Was this why the both of them were axcting weird?' Were the thoughts running through my mind. "I don't know....okay..Alex she cuts." He blurted out. I sighed and leaned back, 'she's okay' I thought. "Say something Alex, did you know?" He asked. "I knew, she told me last week." I admitted.

Jacks lost his younger sister to cutting when he was sixteen and she was fifteen. He never has been able to get over it, or stop blaming himself. "How did you find out?" I asked. "Um I bumped into her when she walked out of the bathroom. Her sleeves were pushed up..." He explained. "Dude I probably looked like I saw a ghost! She looked just as horrified... I should have told it was okay but I just walked away." He rambled on. I touched his shoulder, "Jack its okay, I'm sure she knew you didn't mean it." I assured him.

-Monday-

I had made plans to pick up Summer from school and was more than excited. I decided to bring Jack so he could apologize and he agreed. Summer was more than another girl to him now, now she was more important. He saw her as a chance to make up for not being there for his sister. "Hey Green." I said meeting her at the front door. She smiled and hugged me tight, very tight. When she pulled away her eyes looked tired and red. "You okay?" I asked now extremely worried. She nodded but didn't say anything.

"Green, don't lie to me." I said trying to sound serious. A tear fell down her pale cheek and she looked away. I wiped it away, "Summer if you don't answer me I'm going to  ask your mom." I threatened. Her eyes went scared and she pulled me over to the corner. She lifted her jacket sleeves and on her arm were more cuts. They were still bleeding but clotting. She tugged down the sleeve and I hugged her. "I'm sorry." She whispered. "Its okay, I just wish you had called me." I said into her hair. "Cmon." I said wrapping my arm over her shoulder and walked towards my car. Jack was leaning against the door and waved. She stopped walking, "Alex ." she said.

"He wanted to come." I said smiling. She didn't smile, "Alex he saw- I know." I interrupted her. She looked at me almost hurt, like she knew we had been talking about her. "Just try?" I begged. She nodded and half smiled to Jack. He smiled and opened the door for her, "Hi Jack." She said. "Hey Summer." He replied.

Summers POV-

Alex was in the kitchen talking on the phone which left Jack and I alone in the living room. I had my legs pulled up to my chest and waited for him. "Summer, can I talk to you?" Jack asked. I looked up with dread, "Um, sure." I mumbled. I scooted over and he came to sit next to me on the big couch. "I'm sorry for how I acted last night, I should have said something." He apologized. I shook my head, "Don't worry about it Jack, it was my fault." I replied. I looked back at Alex but he just gave a thumbs up with the phone still pressed against his ear. "No it was mine, I know what your going through right now." He continued.

I looked back at him confused, "You do?" I asked in disbelief. He nodded, "Yeah, I lost my sister to cutting." He admitted. I looked down at my socks, "Oh, I'm sorry." I said trying to cover the sound of my heart breaking for him. "I'm only telling you this because I don't want the same thing to happen to you, or Alex." He added. "Alex? What does Alex have to do with it?" I asked. "I don't want Alex to lose you." He said softly.

Just then Alex came back with a huge smile, "Guess what your best friend just did." He beamed. Jack moved back to his previous spot and Alex replaced him. "What did he do?" I asked. "He got you a free pass for tonight, you get to stay the night here." He smiled. "How did you manage that?!" I asked hugging him. He laughed, "What can I say? Your mom loves me." He joked. "Thank you Alex." I whispered. He pulled back and ruffled my hair, "No problem Green, what are friends for?" He laughed. "Hey!" I scolded fixing my hair.

I spent the evening talking and getting to know the other guys and watching movies. Zack was definitely the shyest, and it was adorable. I decided to test him. While we were watching an action movie I pretended to yawn and laid my head on his broad shoulder. He tried his hardest to fight a small smile but failed at hiding a bright red blush. I could see Alex frown in the corner of my eye so I reached over and held his hand in mine. He realized what I was doing and smiled as he rubbed circles on the back of my hand with his thumb.

It wasnt until one in the morning when Alex finally said we should go to sleep. My heart started pounding when I realized I had to sleep here. "Do you have an extra blanket?" I asked looking at the couch. He laughed and took my hand, "I'm not making you sleep on the couch Summer. You can sleep in my room." He said leading me by the hand. I bit my lip as we walking into his room together. Rian winked at me and mouthed 'Go get em'!' I shook my head no and laughed.  "Sorry its so messy." He said picking up pieces of his clothes. "Don't worry about it." I said looking at the poster covered walls. I had most of them but he still had a ton more than me.

"Okay so back to back, right?" I asked as I got under his covers. "Sure." He said smiling. I nodded and laid my head on my pillow. He sighed and laid on his back like me. I leaned over and pecked his cheek quickly before returning to my side of the bed. He laughed, "That's not back to back." He smiled. "Shut up." I laughed.

I woke up to the feeling of an arm sneaking around my waist. "Alex." I moaned. He didn't answer and just moved closer. "Alex this isn't your side." I said wiggling away. He pulled me back by my waist, "I know you're not asleep Gaskarth." I said. "How?" He asked. I laughed, "Busted." I replied. He laughed and started rubbing circles on my side with his finger.

"So much for back to back." I scoffed. He started humming ignoring my statement. "Can you sing?" I asked. He nodded behind me.

"It doesn't matter when we get back, to doin what we do. Cause right now could last forever, just as long as I'm with you. You're just a daydream away, I wouldnt know what to say if I had you. And I'll keep you a daydream away just watch from a safe place so I never have to lose."

I smiled as I listened to him sing in a low, raspy voice. I could feel his breathing change in his chest as it was pressed against my back. "When did you write that?" I asked. "Just now." He whispered back.
