I wake up at the same time as usual. Riley meant the goodbye, I haven't held her in my arms for two weeks and it's killing me. She hasn't sleepwalked either. I'm glad she's not having nightmares about that and needs me for comfort but I miss her waking me up in the night.
I shower and get dressed, I walk into the living room and Tyler is sat on the couch eating leftover pizza. I cringe and walk to the kitchen and turn the kettle on. I make myself a coffee, "Bro, we are out of milk again," I moan.
"Go shopping then," he mumbles with his mouthful.
"You could be helpful and go to the shop whilst I'm at work," I growl.
"It's your choice to work bro, you know my parents will support you, they love you." He doesn't look at me only watches the TV whilst he eats.
"I like my job, are you ever going to work or sponge off your parent for the rest of your life?"
"Eh, who knows? Fucking girls are way more fun than working," his bedroom door clicks open and a brunette walks out. He doesn't even look up at her.
"Tyler?" she says and he looks at her. "You won't say anything right?"
"Your secret is safe with me babe," he winks at her and I frown.
    "What about him?"
"My brother doesn't care, Susie," he shrugs and she glances at me. What, isn't she Britney's friend? I sip on my black coffee and shrug. I don't give a shit about who he fucks.
"Okay," she walks to the door.
"You had a good time though right?" Tyler grins and looks over his shoulder at her. She stops and looks at him awkwardly. "Come on, no need to be shy after what we did."
"Do you not care that you cheated on her?"
"No, not really, you didn't answer my question," he urges.
"Bro don't embarrass the girl. Maybe you just aren't that good," I joke and he glares at me. He puts the pizza box down and jumps off the couch and stalks towards the girl. She backs up against the wall and he pins her against the wall.
"Is he right? Am I just not that good?" he asks her.
"Umm," she says breathlessly. She likes him! She's a fool, he hasn't found a girl he really likes.
      "Well?" he asks.
He plays with her hair and she blushes, god he's literally making a meal out of this. She bites her lip and looks into his eyes. "It was wrong," she whispers.
"That's not what I asked babe, it was definitely wrong which makes it all the more exciting." I shake my head and put some pop tarts in the toaster.
"I. . ." Tyler is so cruel. Not even I acted like that and I was known as the bad boy. "I had fun," she admits. I look back at them and he kisses her. I roll my eyes, all because she hurt his ego or I did.
      "How much fun?" he asks.
"Umm," she looks in a daze. She really likes him and he's playing on her feelings. "Lots," he kisses her one last time.
"Good, I'll see you later," he walks back to the couch and sits back down. The toaster pops up and I place them on a plate. I glance at her and she shakes her head confused and scurries out of the door. I walk to the couch with my coffee and plate of pop tarts.
I sit next to him, "Bro, you're cruel." I set the cup on the coffee table and rest the plate on my lap.
"What? She enjoyed it last night, I wasn't having her deny it."
"I know, I heard you. I just wasn't expecting it to be her," I take a bite of the pop tart and start chewing. "I'd appreciate it if you'd keep it down."
"Why would I do that?" he shrugs. "Sharing is caring."
"I'll remember that the next time I have your sister in my bed," he scowls at me and I laugh.
     "Bro," he protests.
"Relax, she declared the no sex rule. You're safe," I roll my eyes and finish my breakfast.
"At least someone can follow rules," he growls. "Still nothing downstairs?" he smirks.
"No and there won't be, I don't spend enough time with your sister to get hard and Regan doesn't cut it."
"So there was nothing when she stayed the night the other day?"
I roll my eyes, "No, I fingered her again to keep her happy."
He laughs, "That is horrific, why don't you switch it up a bit? Pleasure her with your tongue," I groan and he laughs more.
"Bro," I cringe. "I'm not tasting her pussy when I've already tasted the sweetest pussy," It's Tyler's turn to groan.
"That is gross bro," I laugh.
"You're just jealous that you haven't loved anyone," I shrug.
"Why would I be jealous? It sounds like hell. Not getting hard unless with the same person. It sounds boring. What about porn?" I roll my eyes and shake my head. "See, boring. Not to mention the heart attacks with the anxiety you have."
"There are more highs than lows," I counter.
He shakes his head, "I can't see any highs if I'm honest." I finish off my coffee and I get up and brush my teeth. I go for a piss and I walk back into the living room. My phone goes off and I pull it out of my pocket.
ABIGAIL- Have you got enough money for Christmas? X
ME- Abigail, I don't need your money. Please tell Hayden to stop bugging me about a car too. x
ABIGAIL- I worry about you. X
ME- I appreciate that I do but I need to be independent. X
ABIGAIL- Please persuade Riley to come home for Christmas, she listens to you. X
ME- She will go. I know her. X
ABIGAIL- How do you know? X
ME- I just do, trust me. X
I put my phone away and Tyler looks at me. "Who was that?"
   "Your Mom," I shrug.
He laughs, "My Mom loves you, she texts you more than me. Her real son," he continues to laugh loudly. "If I didn't know how you feel about my sister I'd be convinced you were sleeping with my Mom."
"She's hot but no. I like my women submissive."
He laughs again, "My sister submissive? Are we talking about the same person?"
"I agree, she's not submissive. She can be quite dominating and I like giving her the reins. But saying that she lets me take control, she trusts me enough to literally do anything. She's the only girl that I've ever given the reins to."
"So if Regan wanted to give you head, you'd turn her down?"
"If I could get hard then yes unless it was on my terms."
"But if Riley wanted to, you'd let her do it?"
I grin, "I don't have any choice bro, she claims me as much as I claim her. She doesn't take no for an answer."
He shakes his head, "She's given you head even though you said no?"
"Yeah, at your house, I said we had no time. She has a habit of doing that, day after her birthday. We had a bath, I said we had no time but she mounted me anyway."
    "Gross," he shakes his head.
"If it wasn't your sister you'd be saying how lucky I was, let's face it."
"I guess you're right. Are you ready?" I nod, hell I need a cold shower after recalling those events. I follow him out of the door and he stops outside Riley's door. Oh, is she coming today? I lean against the wall and wait for her to come out.
It's only a few minutes until her door opens. She looks as beautiful as ever, she locks her door and turns to face us. She tries not to look at me every time but she fails miserably and I smirk. I don't even try to hide that I'm always looking at her, "So next week we will leave for Blowing Rock. Are you ready for Christmas Sis?"
"No, don't remind me. Two hours in the car, no thanks! I'm not going Ty, I can't be so far away from her not for two weeks."
I frown, I don't either but maybe I can take her to see her. It's between here and blowing rock so we would be no further away. "Don't start that shit again, you're coming. The kid can cope for a couple of weeks without you. We however can not." He's right, I couldn't leave here knowing she's staying. She's frustrating as hell though, she's been to see my sister without me. She knows I hate her going without me but she does it anyway.
We start walking to the elevator,  "But Ty, what if she needs me." She always needs you but then so do I.
Tyler presses the call button, "She won't, think of Mom and Dad and Nana and Pop's they will be heartbroken if you aren't there." The doors open and we walk in. She knows it's true which is why she doesn't reply. When the doors open we walk to the car in silence.
No one says anything the whole ride to campus. When Tyler pulls up we all get out of the car, Riley walks off without a word. I will never get used her walking away from me. She doesn't even say goodbye anymore. "Bye, then Sis!" Tyler calls. She doesn't even look back, she just acts as though she didn't hear him. "She's going back more to her destructive self. She won't start drinking again, will she?"
"This is Riley without me, she's cold bro but one thing is for sure, she will never willingly drink the poison for Miley's sake. Her heart isn't frozen as it was before me but this is who she is without me."
"Can't you do something? I prefer the loving, caring Riley."
"No, not unless you accept us. I can't make her do anything. Well, not now anyway," we start walking to class.
"What does that mean? You always got her to do things before. Her birthday you made her eat, I mean she didn't eat a lot but she ate in front of those people."
I laugh and he glares at me, "Bro, you don't want to know how I did that."
     "You didn't," he growls.
"Bathroom sex to get your girl to eat, not a bad thing," I shrug.
"Stop talking, I can't believe you did that. My Dad asked you to get her to eat and you fuck her?"
"Hey, it was the only way. It's how I got her to start taking her meds too. I told you, submissive in the bedroom." He shakes his head.
"In the cafe when she walked away from my friends?"
"No, I just held her. She needed my scent back. I don't make a habit of fucking her in public spaces you know, I just needed her and that dress too I couldn't control myself. I reckon your Mom did that on purpose. She knew before everyone, I just didn't know it."
     "My Mom knew?"
"I think she figured it out when Riley was unconscious after the sea incident."
"That soon? Why didn't she say anything?"
     "I don't know, bro," I shrug.
"See you at lunch?" he asks and I nod. He walks to his next class and I wait outside mine. I roll my eyes when Clara walks up to me. She's in a few of my classes and she's always begging me for my attention but I've never been interested even before Riley.
"Hey Flynn," she smiles at me when she stops in front of me.
"Hey," I half-smile to be polite.
"Have you done the latest assignment? Professor Bing has been so great, hasn't he? Are you ready for Christmas?" I groan. Someone save me now. I walk into the classroom and she follows. I sit down and she takes the seat next to me. She looks up at me waiting for my answer.
"Yes, I've done it. Yes, I can't wait for Christmas," she frowns as though she didn't expect me to be excited for Christmas. Truth is, I can't wait to spend it with my girl. She will be in my bed every night for two weeks. Even if she keeps the no sex rule up she will still be in my arms. Since my parents died I've hated Christmas but this year I look forward to spending it with my whole family. We will be just missing an important person. Miley.
My phone rings and I look at the caller ID and it's Nathan. I frown, why is he calling? "Hello?" I groan.
"Flynn, something is wrong with Riley." I'm on my feet before he's finished the sentence. I push past Clara and start running out of the classroom.
"Where is she? What's wrong with her?" I demand.
"At the courtyard, Tyler told me to call you. I think she's in shock," he sounds worried. Why would she be in shock? I only saw her ten minutes ago.
"On my way," I hang up and run towards the courtyard. If she needed me I'd be there in a heartbeat. Luckily most people are in class so I have a clear route. As I enter the courtyard I take in the scene. Riley is sat on the wall and Tyler is kneeling in front of her. Nathan is hovering around them. She looks so pale and I can see her shaking from here. "Ri," I call.
She looks at me with scared eyes, what the hell happened? "What the hell is wrong with her?" I say and I kneel down next to Tyler. I put my hand on her thigh and I feel her shaking as well as see her shaking.
"I'm fine," she whispers but her voice is shaky too. "I just, saw something." What did she see that has her looking like this? I'm so bad at protecting her.
"Saw what? You're white as a ghost." I reach up and cup her face and she so cold. I mean I expected it, I was the one that told Tyler she's cold earlier. "You're cold and shaking, Ri."
"It doesn't matter, it's not real." What's not real? How does she know it's not real. She pushes us off her and she stands up. Her knees buckle and we hold onto her shoulders. She walks off and we follow her. I notice that Nathan doesn't follow and I'm glad. When things get tough, where is he?
"Sis, are you sure you're okay?" she stops abruptly. Fuck! I managed to stop myself from walking into her. She spins to face us in a nanosecond.
"I'm fine, I saw someone but it wasn't real. It scared me but now I've processed it and know it's not real I'm okay. I obviously haven't dealt with the past as I thought." Who the hell did she see? She admits she was scared? There is only one person that can scare her like that.
She keeps walking and we instantly follow, "How do you know it wasn't real?" I ask. I mean I know where she is going with this but she wouldn't be scared for no reason.
"Because he's dead!" she screams. "I killed him," as I thought. Why is she seeing him? Has she not gotten over the past like she just said? I thought she was doing okay. She pushes the doors open and walks into the building. The hallway is deserted and Tyler grabs her arm so she has to look at him.
"You saw James?" Tyler asks confused.
"No, I thought I did or did you forget that he's dead?" No one has forgotten that he's dead. We are all overjoyed that he's dead.
      "I didn't forget, I'm just confused."
"Me too, okay? Just forget it, I need to get to class."
"Wait a second. Did this person say anything? Do anything?"
She shakes her head, "No, I told you it's not real. I just saw them in the alleyway. He was watching me, when I looked away he was gone." Was someone really watching my girl or is she imagining things? I feel more anxious now. She pulls her arm from Tyler's grip and he lets her go. She storms away from us.
"I don't understand," he looks at me. "Is she going insane?"
"No, I don't think so," I shrug. I've seen her at her lowest and this isn't it. She's as happy as she can be and she wouldn't jeopardize a future with Miley. "Maybe it was someone that looked like him." But if that is the case it means there is a threat to my girl.
"Maybe, I'll see you later," I nod and I walk back to class. Clara questions my sudden disappearance but I ignore her. The day passes by and I go to work after classes. I hope Riley is okay. Maybe I should have watched her closely today just to make sure no one was following her but the truth is, I haven't seen her since she stormed off.
After work, I grab a bite to eat as I'm starving. When I get off the elevator, I hear loud music. I thought Tyler said there was some party rule unless he said that to get them to back off. As I get closer I realise that it's coming from Riley's apartment. The hell?
An old woman walks out of her apartment next to Riley's and she glares at me. "If she doesn't turn that down I'm calling the police. I don't care how nice she is, I've already been reasonable and asked her to turn it down."
I hold my hands up, "I'll get her to turn it off, just don't call the police," she nods and walks back into her apartment. What the hell is she playing at? I pull my keys out and find her key. I open the door and my mouth falls open at the scene before me.
Tristan dips Riley to the floor and then pulls her back up and he kisses her. What the hell! I take in the rest of the room. Jesse and Nathan are sat on the couch and they are all in their underwear. "The fuck is going on?" I yell and Riley hastily pulls away from Tristan and he rolls his eyes. "Ri?"
"What? We are having fun!" her eyes are hazy and she stumbles towards me. I hold my hands out to support her. I cup her face and look into her eyes. The hell! She's drunk!
"Are you drunk?" I demand but I already know the answer.
"What! No!" she protests and it doesn't sound like a lie. I make sure she's steady on her feet before I walk to the source of the music. It's giving me a headache and I don't want the woman calling the police. I pull the lead out and silence fills the room.
"Why the fuck are you all half-naked?" I growl. I watch as Riley stumbles to the couch, she's definitely drunk. She falls onto Nathan's lap and I scowl.
"We played strip Jenga. You're pretty," she looks up at Nathan. Is she trying to piss me off? She thinks he's pretty?! She wraps her arms around his neck and she kisses his cheek.
"How could you let her drink, Nathan?" I demand.
"She hasn't, I swear to god I wouldn't let her drink. Not again," so what the hell is going on here then because she's definitely drunk. I walk to Riley and I pull her away from Nathan. I keep my arm around her supporting her. She's mine, I hate that they are all in her apartment let alone in their underwear and she was sat on Nathan's lap. I'm so angry.
"Oh come on, lighten up. A little vodka in her drink to liven the party up is not breaking the law," Tristan slurs. Tristan grabs a vodka bottle off the floor and slides the small bottle across the coffee table. A quarter of vodka is gone, did she drink all of that? How did she not know?
I lunge at him, I'm seeing red again. My heart is thumping. Why the hell would he spike her drink! Did he want to fuck her tonight? Does he find her boring sober? I hit him over and over, he could have killed her! "What the fuck? Flynn, stop." Tyler shouts. I feel resistance and he carries me out of the apartment.
He puts me down and he puts his hand on my shoulder. I try pushing past him, he needs to pay for what he did. "Stop it," he growls. "You've gone too far this time!" What is he talking about? "You hurt her!" I did what? "I saw the whole thing bro, I know you were protecting her but you hurt her in the process!"
"What?" I whisper and I stop pushing against him.
"You pushed her away when she tried to stop you," my heart stops. I hurt my girl in my anger. I put my hands on my head. The fuck did I do?
     "How bad?" I panic.
"I don't know, glass shattered, I think she's bleeding," he informs me. Fuck! I walk to the wall and I punch it. "Now you see why I wanted you to stay away from her."
I turn and look at him, "I'm sorry," I put my hands on my head again. "I'll stay away from her, I promise this time. Please," I walk up to him and I cup his face as tears roll down my face. "Make sure she's okay," I beg.
He pats my shoulder and nods, "I will," he promises. "Are you going to be okay?" I nod and I release him. He walks to the door.
"Tell her I'm sorry," I beg. He nods and the door closes behind him. I punch the wall again. How could I hurt the love of my life? I walk to my room and I kick and punch the wardrobe. I'm such a fuck up. I should have listened to Tyler and stayed away from her. I'll have no trouble doing that anymore. She's safer without me.
I flop face down on my bed and I scream into the pillow. I feel so sick that I hurt her. Tears continue to fall. I get out my phone and I look at my pictures of her. The ones of us at the cliff on her birthday are one of my favourites. I swipe across and see the latest picture of all three of us. I save it as my wallpaper. She's our Angel and it's going to be tough keeping my distance but it beats the alternative.
I wipe my eyes and I get up. I need a drink. I slide my phone back into my pocket and I leave the apartment. I hesitate outside her door, I could go in and just see how she is but then, I won't want to leave. I walk down the road to the nearest pub. Before I step foot inside I need to know she's okay, I call Tyler.
    "Hello?" he says.
"Tell me she's okay," I beg.
"She's fine, bro. We are at the hospital," I gasp.
"Hospital, what? How bad is she?"
"Calm down, she just needs some stitches and I want them to check her heart just in case." He doesn't seem that worried. I hurt her and she needs stitches?
"Please, let me speak to her. I just need to know she's okay and then I'll leave her alone for good," I hear him sigh.
"Flynn?" she says softly. I hear the slight panic in her voice.
"Ri, are you okay? I'm so sorry baby," it sounds as though I'm taking this harder than she is but then she never sees the danger.
"I'm fine, Flynn. It was my fault, I should have been more careful." I hear Tyler snort and he's right. She shouldn't need to be careful around me.
"No, Ri. This is on me not you. I can't ever lose control like that. You aren't safe around me, Ri. I'm too dangerous for you. My jealousy and my protectiveness over you is too strong. Whether we are together or not I'll still love you. I have to keep my distance. . ."
"Flynn, don't be so stupid," she begs. "You promised we could still see each other every day." I know but that was before. I have to keep her safe, she was never in any danger until I came into her life. I am the real threat.
"That was before I realised what I'm capable of. I never thought I'd hurt you, you are everything to me. It's better this way," I need her to see how bad I am for her.
"No, it's not," she protests without thinking about it.
"You need to trust me Ri. I know this is hard but I have to keep you safe."
"You know what Flynn? This is so stupid, all of this. It was an accident, avoid it if you must. Don't expect me to come running back because you're protecting me. I really hate you sometimes," the line goes dead. She hung up on me. She hates me, she should! I am the true poison in her life. This is for the best, if she hates me it will be easier for her.
