Chapter 3

Sage's POV

I'd look at Espe for a moment before looking back at Red and nodding slightly. He'd start walking away from the village, going off of the path. I'd start following him and turned to look at Espe to see her following as well. The farther we got away from the village, the more I felt my teeth return to normal. I'm not sure what's going on and why the village was making my Anomaly start to come out. I'd notice Red would take his goggles off as well and we'd continue walking till nearing a forest. I'd stop.

"Red. I think we're far enough away from the village, explain.."

He'd stop and turn to look at us both, seeming to debate something before sighing.

"Ok.. Ok.. So.. I was going to keep walking till we got to a safe place..What do you want explained?"

"You have an anomaly?" I'd cross my arms slightly.

"..Eh... yeah.."

"So why'd you lie about that to the guard?"

"...Well.. I'm sure you guys have heard stories about how great this kingdom is to anomalies... Things have changed. I was just protecting us." I'd hum slightly to myself before looking over at Espe for a moment.

"What about that village? Why was it abandoned?"

"...I'll explain that later."

Espe would shift, I could tell she was not happy.

"What are you planning?" She'd question sharply.

"I.. was hoping.. That maybe you two would like to be part of the resistance." I would turn to Red now giving him a questioning look.

"...Like I said.. Things have changed here a lot.. I can explain more if you guys want to be part of it.."

"What's the resistance for..? What's it's goal?" I'd ask.

"The resistance is for the government..The goal is to overthrow the queen and fix the laws.."

"..Queen?"

"Yeah.. The king died a while back."

I'd look at Espe as I started thinking for a moment.

"Could we leave it if we don't want to be part of it anymore?"

Red would seem to think for a moment.

"Yes.. You can leave if you don't want to be a part of it... But you'll have to promise to keep it secret."

After a few short moments.

"Fine." I'd mutter, not having to look at Espe to know she was surprised.

"Espe?" I'd look at her.

"Uh...Sure.." I'd turn back to Red, I know Espe is probably still unsure about everything since he's a stranger, but I can tell he's not a bad guy.

"..Wow.. Okay. Uh.. I guess follow me." He'd start walking off and I'd start following him, Espe coming up next to me.

"You answered that fast." She'd mutter

"It's not like we have anywhere else to go.. Anyways he said we can leave whenever we want..." I'd mumble back.

"Why do you trust him so much?" She'd mutter back.

"...I can tell he's a decent guy..." Espe would give me a look and I'd roll my eyes.

"Anyways.. Might be fun. Doesn't really seem like they're having any violent plans or anything."

"I guess. Yeah.. It might be fun." She'd agree with me. I'd grin lightly at her. She's finally starting to act like herself again. We did come to New Anomal for a new start anyways.. I guess we could start here.

After a while of walking, Espe and I would be talking and messing around a bit until Red got our attention.

"We're here." He'd be standing in a thicker area of the forest before knocking on what looked like a trunk. The trunk would open up and turns out it was just a well camouflaged door. Red would step aside to let us walk in first, I'd be amazed at how big the place was and with how many people were there. I'd look at Espe to see how she felt, I think she was also a bit amazed whether she wanted to admit it or not.

"Here, you two follow me real quick so we can get you guys acquainted and settled." Red would say, still having a grin on his face as he started walking off and going down a hall. I'd quickly follow him to not lose him, checking every now and then to make sure Espe also wasn't lost. After a while we'd be in a less busy area and Red would open a door. He'd let us walk in before walking in as well and sitting on top of a desk. The room he led us into was like an office.

"So... Welcome to the resistance. I guess you guys can ask away."

"You lied to a guard..? Why?" Espe would ask.

"Well, like I said, things have changed. Anomalies aren't treated very well here anymore... Maybe even worse than most kingdoms."

"What does the resistance do?" I'd ask

"Well.. At the moment we're doing smaller things to try and get the Monarchy off or weakened enough that we can make our move. Small things like destroying resources or hanging up propaganda."

"What would we do?" Espe would ask

"Well.. We can figure out what you two are good at and fit you somewhere. For now we should probably get you guys settled in and introduce you to everyone and start back up tomorrow."

I'd nod slightly for a moment before I thought of something.

"Who's the leader?" Red would chuckle before pointing at himself.

"Now if you follow me, I'll give you guys a tour, and introduce you guys to everyone, but I will have to ask something a bit personal from you two later on."

I'd hum quietly to myself as he started to leave the room and give us a tour.

After showing us around and a bit awkwardly introducing us to the other people. They were all nice and welcoming, but there were a lot of people and I just felt out of place. There was one person though that kinda caught my attention, but I'll have to try and talk to him tomorrow, it was getting late and all of this really took a lot out of me. Red then showed us where we would be sleeping. I'm guessing he forgot about that supposed question since he never asked it even after making sure we were all situated. I would lay down on a bed that was supposedly in "my" room. I'd look around at the walls and ceiling for a bit before letting my mind wander.

'How did we get here?' 'He's kinda nice.. But still is a bit suspicious.' 'I hope Espe isn't super mad.'

'...What have I done?'
