Chapter 4

Espe's POV

* Before Red introduces that he is the leader of the Resistance and he's answering questions and tells them that they are planning on overthrowing the queen *

"What's the resistance for..? What's it's goal?" Sage asked.

"The resistance is for the government..The goal is to overthrow the queen and fix the laws.."

"..Queen?"

"Yeah.. The king died a while back."

I tuned out some of the conversation and went to my own thoughts.

' They're planning on overthrowing the Queen. I didn't even know the king died and this is one of the most known kingdoms! ' I thought

' A Resistance? huh.....He wants us to join? Why? We could be psychopaths and he wants to let us in the team... What if It could be a trap. Probably not, Sage seems to really trust him so... I'll follow her...For now.'

"Espe?" Sage asked

"Uhh....sure" I'd reply

*Skip to where they are in the office talking*

"What does the resistance do?" Sage questioned

"At the moment we're doing smaller things to try and get the Monarchy off or weakened enough that we can make our move. Small things like destroying resources or hanging up propaganda."

"What would we do?" I asked

' I mean I'm not that good at anything. My mask gets in the way sometimes but I AM NOT taking it off. I have had this mask since I was little. I'm surprised that it hasn't broken yet.'

" Who's the leader?" I heard Sage say

Red chucked and pointed to himself

' So this softie can do some damage?' I thought to myself

"Now if you follow me, I'll give you guys a tour, and introduce you guys to everyone, but I will have to ask something a bit personal from you two later on." Red said

We walked out and he introduced us to some people. I mostly stayed quiet as I was still surprised.

Red showed Sage her room then came back for me as we walked to my room, which was at the end of the hallway Red spoke.

" Hey i know we didn't have a great start but are you ok?"

" Huh?... Oh yeah I guess i'm surprised a stranger want us in a resistance"

" yeah sorry for the sudden Info..."

" .....It's fine.. We wanted answers and you delivered them.."

We arrived at my room and he asked me

" Hey can i ask you something it could be personal"

" Uhhhhh....Sure I guess, but if it's personal come inside the room goggles."

Red slouched over as he came in

" Why that nickname?"

" I don't know, but i like it " I laughed

He came into the room and i closed the door behind him

I turned to face him

" Anyway ask away.."

"Oh! Ok ummm.. I heard Sage say you guys are anomalies so what anomaly are you?"

" That's for me to know and you to find out "

He rolled his eyes

" Ok ok another question."

I nodded at him to keep going

" Why do you wear that mask? "

I stayed silent for a moment

" Espe?"

I snapped out of it

" That is a...uhhh personal "

" Sorry!" he quickly said

" It's fine...." I mumbled

We stayed quiet for quite some time

" Anymore questions?"

" Oh uhhh no I don't think so.."

I stared at him but considering i'm like 5'3 I'm not that intimidating

" I'll leave you be to get settled in "

" Yeah... by the way what time is it "

" Uhhh" he looks over at the small clock " Oh Gosh its 2 am"

" Oh really we should get to sleep then" I said

" Uh alright goodnight Espe"

" Night"

As Red leaves I sigh and take off my mask and head to the supposed bathroom and change.

I finished washing up and looked into the mirror.

' What the hell.... What did Sage get me into ' I thought

I stare into my eyes from the mirror, they looked exhausted.

" Well better get to sleep " I say to no one

I walked out and looked at the clock. It's 3 am now I sigh and head to the bed and flopped into it

After 20 minutes i still can't sleep. I go to my bag and take out a tiny locket and open it. It starts playing soothing music, there's a picture inside of me and Sage. Sage gave this to me for my 14th birthday. I'm currently 18 now and she is 20.

I chuckle ' How time flies ' I thought

I lay back down with the music still playing. I think about all the good times me and Sage had and I feel myself get drowsy

" I hope it stays that way......" I softly say

And I fall into a slumber.
