Chapter Five

(Bulma's POV)

My mom's smile grew after Vegeta left, the gleam in her eye reminded me of the Cheshire cat. I couldn't help but feel awkward; no words had been spoken. We both stood there in the eerie silence of the kitchen. Her smile was creeping me out, like seriously she never smiles that big for this long much less stare at another person. She clapped her hands together as she started walking closer to me.

She stopped inches from me and squealed before she hugged me with strength I had no idea she had.

"Finally! It's about time you start planning for my grandchildren! I just can't wait. The children will no doubt be beautiful! Oh my, oh my, Vegeta will be such a good daddy, don't you think?" She gushed wildly as she continued to squeeze the life out of me.

I felt my face heat up in embarrassment as I also tried to pry away from her death grip. "Mom, that's not at all what's happening." I tried to defend myself, it was bad enough she had stumbled upon the cursory affair. I had a feeling I wasn't going to get to see Vegeta until the androids made an appearance.

She giggled and pulled back holding me at arms length a twinkle in her eye, "That's what you think, trust me. That's what I thought about your father and I. Now look where we are, we have two beautiful daughters and the one before me is the smartest woman I know." She explained ecstatically.

Another giggle escaped her lips and she released her grip on me. She closed her eyes before she hastily turned around; heading back toward the broken glass. She glanced over her shoulder and tossed me a wink as she bent over to start picking up the bigger pieces of glass while humming here comes the bride.

Feeling just as awkward as before, I decided I'm better off going to my room; it was better than standing idly by to watch her pick up the broken platter. The walk to my room was taking longer than I remembered, I stared at the framed pictures that lined the stairwell but I didn't register any of the faces. When I finally made it to my room I risked a glance at Vegeta's room, just two doors away from mine.

Immediately I started to wonder what he was doing behind his closed door. He was probably showering or maybe he just straight went to 'bed'. It was hard for me to say since I left him in a pretty flustered state of mind. Chuckling to myself I open my own door, I ignore the disheveled state of my room as I stroll over to my vanity; pulling the drawer open I pull out my handy pack of cigarettes.

After selecting one of the lined soldiers I looked in the drawer for a lighter and to my dismay I couldn't find one. I tossed the pack back in the drawer in frustration and searched the top of the vanity. I chaotically inspected the disorganized mess with no luck. I reached for my makeup organizer and I sighed in relief as I finally found a bright red lighter mingling with my eyeliner pencil. I quickly lit the cigarette that was waiting at my lips. After the night I had I needed a breather. I relax as I exhale the first puff, I gently place the lighter in the drawer with the accompanying pack of cigarettes, closing it with a steady hand.

I swivel on my heel as I walk towards my balcony door, with little effort I pull the sliding door open and step out into the humid night. I leaned against the rail while I smoked. I allowed my mind to filter through my crazy day; it had started out normal to say the least. I was originally livid with the saiyan prince before tonight. I hadn't caught a glimpse of him since the gravity room fiasco; that had been months ago.

I spent the majority of the day helping my father with another capsule project and after eating dinner with my parents I retired to my room. I had settled into my bed with my laptop; several blueprints scattered around me as I worked. Even though I was upset at the man I knew he couldn't ignore me forever so I was going over the different training bot algorithms. He would need the upgrades soon enough and I would be one step ahead, if I hadn't been working on those upgrades I wouldn't have wandered downstairs for a late night snack.
