Chapter 12
(Bulma's POV)
I had spent my last seventy two hours on an official bedrest, per the orders from my obstetrician. I hadn't left the room, not even to wander down to the kitchen. My mother had everything delivered to us by the house droids. She wouldn't even let me walk down the hall to the nursery, she would hastily claim that everything was set and ready. I was just told to relax. I wasn't even allowed to go down the stairs to the living room to lounge on the couch for Kami's sake. I have been trapped in my own room with only my mother as my main source of company. I was officially over this whole 'bedrest' situation. I understood my doctor's concerns but I didn't think lounging in bed all day was the best way to deal with my baby's random assaults to my ribcage.
Thankfully my mother was always quick to rush to my side offering me her assistance in any way. My precious little warrior seemed to be on the same vicious schedule as his father. I was aggravated that the only time I got to spend with Vegeta these past three days was when he'd find his way to the bedroom at night. If I was lucky I could get a decent head nod from him in the morning before he descended off the balcony, obviously heading back to the gravity room. The lucky bastard got to enjoy the solitude of his gravity chamber, he even had the pleasure of worker bots delivering him portions of his meal; I on the other hand didn't have the luxury of solitude.
The first day hadn't been all that bad, it started well enough. My mother and I chatted lightly. It's just as the hours wore on we had less topics to discuss, even sitting on the balcony had lost its appeal. As the second day wore on I stared at my walls. I couldn't help but think back to all the projects I had accomplished in the last year and a half; sitting here in my room felt pointless. I knew my genius could be used elsewhere then I reminded myself of the completed set of prints for the new spaceship. Those had held me at bay for a few decent hours.
The day before my bedrest I practically begged my father for any sort of work to keep my roaring mind occupied but sadly the company was in a stall for now. Those blueprints held my riddled mind at bay yesterday but today was especially grinding. My mother brought breakfast with tea bright and early. She decided to turn on one of her soap operas. After watching the mind numbing content for over two hours I urged her to go down to my father and I's personal lab to retrieve my notebooks. She had returned with three notebooks I had absently left behind. She came back with a bright smile but neither of them had been the journals I described to her. I accepted them nonetheless.
These journals were severely outdated, their pages filled with different projects that had either been hit or miss; I was as interested in these notebooks as I was with my mothers show. To say today felt like Hell on Earth was an understatement. With nothing but older gadgets and capsule notes to browse through my mind felt like it was going to explode with boredom. The ridiculous show my mom put on played all day, she was reacting according to whatever drama was being announced. I on the other hand could barely keep track of the characters names, much less what they were pettily arguing about. When the house droids brought in lunch I couldn't help but feel relieved. At least I could focus on some good food. Just as my mother was handing me my plate my father strolled in with a cheery hello.
It was a welcome surprise to say the least. My father pulled my desk chair across the room and settled himself next to me. My mother rushed over with a plate of food, laying a chaste kiss to his cheek before she returned her attention back to her meal and show.
