Chapter Six
(Vegeta's POV)
There she was.
Stuck in that overgrown lizard's nasty grasp. I could feel my rage consuming me. My heart is hampering through my chest with every heavy breath I take.
"LET HER GO!"
My voice was taut and choked with horror, my body was littered with several small gashes and scrapes. I felt powerless. I tried to move my legs, they were rooted to the ground. My body wasn't listening to my brain. I was frozen in place witnessing the scene unfolding before me. I could see his tail tighten around her neck as she was lifted higher off the ground.
"Please Vegeta, please save me!" The voice that was once a song was now terror-struck and strained. The icy glare of Frieza's eyes shook the coldest part of my being.
His chuckle reverberated through my head, "Stupid monkey, did you think you could actually be happy? Do you believe you are honestly capable of producing a satisfying life?" He waved the blue-haired woman around like she was a toy; her face pink in distress.
"STOP IT FRIEZA!" I pleaded hopelessly.
He was taunting me in the worst way. "Don't forget Vegeta, I made you who you are, a planet destroyer, cultural detonator; you are my weapon of destruction. Silly monkey don't you understand that is all you are and that is all you will ever be." His voice was almost calm yet his words oozed malice.
He lifted Bulma higher and I watched as he stiffened the grip he had on her delicate neck; her flushed cheeks quickly losing their color. "You are truly a pitiful monkey, you must be incompetent. Understand that you aren't deserving of love, you are destined for isolation." He swayed Bulma around, "Frieza Force rule number five, no attachments. I wonder how long this creature can go without breathing." Frieza goaded before letting out a repugnant laugh.
My nerves lit a fire as rage overtook me. Red stained my vision as I lunged forward.
*thump*
I couldn't get to him, he was mere inches in front of me; my muscles stiffened as panic exploded in my chest. I couldn't get to her- I was cemented in place. I glanced urgently at the bluenette, her own eyes wide, pleading for my help. Something was forcing me back, dread clawed its way up my spine as I tried to keep myself steady. I couldn't comprehend the situation; he was supposed to be dead. I continued to attack the invisible forcefield. I tried to break through throwing blast after blast but it proved to be useless, I ignored the tears that streamed down my cheeks.
"You can't do this Frieza, you've been defeated once before! I will kill you again!" I choked the words out, I was embarrassed by my obvious desperation.
His maniac laughter filled my ears. I pound at the invisible barrier watching Bulma struggle more, gasping for breath; I force all my strength into every punch but nothing works. I let out a frustrated roar.
"You can't save her Vegeta. You are too weak. You'll never be able to save anyone, not even yourself." Frieza confidently stated.
I watched in horror as Bulma bit his tail in a futile attempt to free herself.
"NO BULMA, DON'T DO THAT!" I felt my throat straining.
I could only watch Frieza as he brought the woman closer to his face and looked her in the eye with an amused grin pulling at the corner of his lips. "That wasn't very nice." He quipped before he flicked his tail; instantly snapping her neck.
