"Yachi-san, what's wrong? You're shaking a little." I looked at Hinata and smiled. "Nothing's wrong, I'm just a little nervous."
This might've been the first time I've ever lied to Hinata. I was scared, probably the most scared I've ever been in my life. When Hinata told me he had something he wanted to talk about, he looked so serious. The only time he's ever serious is when he plays volleyball. I invited Hinata over to spend more time with him, not to have a serious talk.
I opened the door to my apartment, took off my shoes, and put on some slippers. "Wait here, I'm going to grab some slippers for you." He nodded in agreement and stood still. I made my way toward the closet but stopped in a position where Hinata couldn't see me but could still hear me talk. "Before that, what did you want to talk about?"
I couldn't see him but I knew he was just as nervous as I was. "I rather talk about this face to face." He responded. "Is it something bad?" I asked.
"I wouldn't say it's bad, but I also wouldn't say it's good news." I breathed in and out and then walked toward my apartment door with the extra pair of slippers. "You promise it's not bad news?"
He looked at me and smiled. "I promise."
I handed him the slippers and led him to my couch in the living room. We both sat down and stared into each other's eyes. "So what did you want to talk about?"
Hinata took a big grasp of air and started. "I've been thinking about my volleyball career. You know Kageyama is going overseas after the season is over, right? Overseas there's so much better competition." He paused to see if I was still okay. By this time tears were already rolling down my face. "Yachi-san, I can't soar any higher if I stay here in Japan. After this season I'm going to go back to Brazil."
With tears still going down my face, I slapped him on the arm. "You promised it wasn't bad news!" I screamed. "You told me you wouldn't leave again but here you are trying to go back to Brazil."
I continued to hit slap his arm, but he eventually grabbed my arm to stop me. He took another big breath of air and continued. "Yachi-san, can you come with me please?"
I stared at him, I was no longer crying but I was now very confused. "Come with you?' I responded.
He flashed me a smile. "Yeah, remember? I told you the next time I go overseas I would take you with me." He opened his arms wide, asking for a hug. "Would you kindly agree to come with me?"
I was happy, sad, and confused at the same time. The last two years I've spent all my time and money on school. Learned all I possibly could in design, and now he's asking me to just leave it all behind and go with him to some place I've never been to before?..... Why not?
I jumped into his arms and hugged him. "You better take care of me."
------
After calming down we talked about what was going to happen. Hinata is going to play the rest of the season, hopefully win a championship for the Black Jackals, and then leave since he was under only a one year contract. I, on the other hand, am going to work as hard as I can and hopefully get a promotion. If I can get a higher position in the company then I can start working from my own computer and only fly back to Japan when I'm needed.
There was only two problems with this: I won't be able to attend most of Hinata's games. If I'm going to get this promotion then I need to work alot more overtime and instead of two days off I could probably only get one. The other problem... I guess I'm going to figure out now.
"Hinata, what are we?" Currently we were both sitting on the floor watching Tsukishima-kun's division two game, eating the leftover food Hinata brought from the restaurant he went to with Kageyama-kun and Miya Atsumu.
