Sabby knocks at the door but the door isn't locked. The minute Sabby knocks, the door swings open.
Uncle Ross was sitting on the dining chair with his head in his hands. Tears streaming down his face.
Harry isn't ready for all this.
What is it? Please don't be something bad please don't be something bad.
Sabby walks upto Uncle Ross but he doesn't flinch. He stays there seated with his head in his hand.
"Dad" Sabby speaks up "what happened? Is everything okay?"
Uncle Ross doesn't answer.
He stays there frozen.
Harry runs upstairs and Sabby follows him.
Harry is shaking again, hands at the door knob. Sabby notices this and moves his hand away gently assuring him and opening the door for both of them.
They both stand there frozen looking at the sight in front of them.
Anne is sitting on the couch crying her eyes out. Harry moves his eyes towards Grams' bed.
He looks at the heart rate monitor and her heart rate gets faster but weaker. Fingers, earlobes, lips and nail beds looking bluish or light gray. A nurse standing beside the bed, her head down. The bottles are removed and there are no longer tubes attached to her body.
"Harry she won't live more than a minute" Anne says and Harry turns his head towards her.
His eyes can't see properly, it's all blur in front of him. Sabby reaches towards Grams' bed and sits beside her.
He looks at the heart rate monitor again and looks at how her heart rates are gradually slowing down, when Harry turns around and runs away.
Anne called out his name but he wasn't in his right state of mind. He couldn't think what he was doing.
He ran away. He ran towards the park.
His phone vibrated but he didn't look at it.
7 pm
He reached the park.
He saw Cassie sitting in front of the lake with her back turned towards Harry. Clifford was lying on her thighs.
When he walks forward, Cassie snaps her head in his direction and gets ready to run.
"Don't please!" Harry shouts with a tear falling down from his left eye. "Please! Cassie" he begs in front of her.
Cassie was in a mid-position of standing up but then she sits down.
Clifford barks in confusion.
Harry walks forward to join Cassie by sitting beside her but maintains a little distance in between.
Harry looks at the lake in front of him and so does Cassie running her hands through Clifford's hair.
"What is going on Cassie?" Harry asks when another tear falls from his right eye.
"I don't know, Harry" Cassie doesn't look at Harry "i don't know" she repeats herself.
"Where's Louis and why isn't he talking to me?" Harry asks "I need him Cassie"
Cassie takes a look at Harry and then whispers "i can't tell you Harry."
Harry looks at her eyes blurred.
"Harry it's his personal decision to tell you about this" Cassie says.
"About what? Cassie!" He raises his voice "He makes me fall in love with him, spends some time with me and then leaves me back to dust!"
"Harry, he never asked to be loved by you" Cassie says "He just wanted a good friend and you fell for him"
"Then why didn't he stop me when I kissed him?!" Cassie doesn't reply.
Harry doesn't want to cry anymore in front of her so he takes out his phone to check the time when he freezes.
From Sabby:
( She's gone Harry)Everything stops for a moment.
Harry breaks down in front of Cassie. He cries hard , so hard that he cannot find his voice.
"Harry!" Cassie reaches for him and wraps him around in a hug "I'm sorry Harry, I didn't know you loved him this much" she rubs her back gently.
"She's gone" Harry's voice breaks.
Cassie looks down at him. She is sitting on her knees holding him, Clifford swinging around both of them.
"Who?" Cassie asks.
"Gram-ma....grandma" Harry looks for his voice between his tears "I-I didn't stay with her at the last moment...I didn't say goodbye"
Cassie doesn't ask a lot of questions and just hugs him hard.
"I didn't say goodbye to her" harry cries "I'm the worst person ever Cassie!"
Cassie continues to rub his back.
"She always listened to me and I-" Cassie shushes him.
"It's okay, it's okay" Cassie says "you can still say goodbye to her...go home"
Harry shakes his head. The last things he wants to see right now is his Grams' dead face.
He can't.
He stays there with Cassie the whole night and Cassie doesn't mind to give him company.
