Now Or Never

Chapter 6

Reggie easily strums his bass, chuckling at me while I dance around in front of him. Alex watches me with an amused look on his face. The boys asked me to come listen to them rehearse a bit and I had a lot of energy from the coffees I drank this morning. I take Reggie's hand and spin myself around. Luke chuckles softly and shakes his head. He was sitting in a chair, trying to tune his guitar. I walk over to him and move his guitar out of his hands. He looks up at me confused. I easily place myself in his lap and wrap my arm around his neck.

"That is the last coffee you're drinking today." Luke says, chuckling softly. His hand moves to my lower back gently. Julie steps inside the studio and she is accompanied by Blake. I smile and wave at him. Luke's arm moves around my waist fully when he sees him. "Sorry to just drop in like this, Julie said you guys were rehearsing today." Blake says, walking over to introduce himself to Reggie. They shake hands and Reggie smiles at him.

"Y/n, good to see you again." Blake waves over at me as Luke sits up straighter, putting his head on my shoulder to get a better look at him. "Ah. Luke, hey bud." Blake smiles and comes over, holding his hand out for him to shake. Luke glances at his hand briefly before lifting his to shake it. I smile and lean back, playing with Luke's hair gently. Reggie shows Blake his bass and plays it a little to let him hear it.

"He just decides to drop in.." Luke says quietly. I turn a little in his lap to look at him. "Luke, we're going to be working with him soon.." I whisper back, continuing to play with his hair. He leans his head back and looks at me. His jaw was slightly clenched but he nodded. "That's my boy." I smile and peck his lips softly. He smiles a little when I do. I stand up and walk over to where they are. Blake holds out a microphone for me. "Let's hear something." He says, smiling at me. I think a little and move to sit on the piano, looking at Julie. "Flying Solo?" We say at the same time and start to laugh. This was the song Julie and I wrote when Flynn got mad at us over the summer. It was the trios song now. The boys nod quickly at our song choice. Julie moves to sit at the piano, beginning to play it. I hold the microphone up.

"If I leave you on a bad note, leave you on a sad note.. guess that means i'm buying lunch that day." I lean back and look at everyone before the boys starting playing with me. Julie continuing to add amazing musical effect. I hop off the piano and dance in the middle of them with Julie. She laughs softly and dances with me. The boys watch us and chuckle along too.

"My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you!" I sing, giggling when Luke walks closer to me with his guitar. He turns and looks at Blake. "Hey!" He jumps at him slightly which makes Blake quickly step back. Luke chuckles to himself and keeps playing. I roll my eyes at him playfully knowing why he did it. I place my arm around his torso to keep him beside me. Blake keeps watching us, completely entertained.

"My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo with you.." I lean my head on his shoulder gently. His smiles at me as they stop playing. "That was incredible!" Blake says, clapping his hands together. "Let me just say, Y/n, you have the vocals of a literal angel." I smile and keep Luke close to me.

"She sure does. My angel." Luke says, wrapping his arm around me too. Blake looks at Luke with a raised eyebrow. I shake my head at him. No matter what his jealous side had to come out whenever another guy complimented me. He usually was the only main one who did but jeez if another guy did, it was the end of the world. I reach up to easily press a kiss to his cheek. This calms him down immediately. His slight glare turns into a small grin.

"Blake, you're welcome to stay for dinner. My dad wants to meet you anyways if I'm going to be working with you." Julie says, making him nod. "I've got to run. Flynn's mom is making homemade pizza." Reggie says before grabbing his stuff. I give him a brief hug before he leaves. "Willie needs me to meet him at the beach." Alex grabs his things before walking after Reggie. Those two always had plans with other people.

"Just us, ay?" Luke says, looking at Julie and Blake. They both nod before Julie leads us inside. Luke tries to race me to our favorite spot at the table. "That's not fair. You got a head start." I look at him, pouting a little. He chuckles softly and kisses my forehead. "Sorry, baby." He says sitting down. I sit next to him. Mr. Ray brings the food over and sits down to talk to us. Carlos basically begs Luke to help him with something in the studio so after dinner, they both go out there.

"Your boyfriend has quite an attitude." Blake says as we sit on the couch. Julie was in the kitchen with her dad, popping some popcorn for us. I shrug a little and play with my fingers. "He can. He's very hot headed." I say, looking at him. "Really? I couldn't tell." I cringed to myself at the amount of sarcasm dripped from his voice. "He's very sweet when he wants to be." I don't understand why I felt the need to defend Luke for this guy. I didn't even know him. Then again, I didn't like the fact that he judged Luke's character off of one interaction. "I bet he just drops everything to buy you flowers or take you out on dates." Blake says, looking at me. I scoff a little. Luke didn't have to do all those things. Luke expressed his love in his own way. "You probably shouldn't judge people or a relationship. You're not very good at it." I say, standing up and walking out of the living room. "I'm sorry!" I hear him call after me but immediately stop when I'm gone. Luke's still outside with Carlos. I decide to go and see what they're doing.

"You hold your hand right here.. and strum. There you go, kid." Luke says, standing beside Carlos while he sits with Luke's guitar in hand. I smile a little and lean on the door to watch them. "Oh, hi Y/n." Carlos looks over at me. Luke immediately brings his gaze over to me. His eyes soften once they meet mine. Carlos sets down Luke's guitar. "Thanks man." He says, doing a quick handshake with him before running inside. Luke looks back at me.

"You know I love you, right?" I say and walk over to him. He smiles softly and nods. "Of course. I love you too." I place my hands on his chest gently and look up at him. He places his hands over mine. His hazel eyes light up brighter. I smile more. He was so handsome it was insane. I move my hands to cup his face softly. Luke steps closer once I do, placing his hands on my waist. I wouldn't change this for the world. My life would be low without him.
