Song used in this chapter: Love Like This by Ben Rector. It's beautiful.
"What do you mean you're not going to help me?" Luke asks desperately, looking at Alex and Reggie. "I mean we're not helping you. You hurt her, Luke." Alex snaps at him and crosses his arms. Reggie looks down a little when Alex raises his voice. "I'm not asking for much. I just need to apologize to her. In my own way." Luke says pleading more with them. Alex sighs softly and looks at him. Reggie looks up a little at his friends. "It's Christmas.." He says quietly making Luke and Alex look at him. He hadn't spoken since Luke sat them down in the kitchen to get their help on apologizing to Y/n. Reggie didn't like it when people fought, especially people he considered his family. He had that enough when he was alive with his parents. "It is." Luke says, looking at Alex. Alex gives in and nods, patting Reggie's shoulder. "We'll help you. As long as you promise me.. you won't hurt her again." Alex says sternly and looks at Luke. Luke nods quickly and the boys quickly get started on their plan.
Luke found an old piano in an empty room, dusting it off. He sat down and presses a few keys to make sure it was in tune. Reggie was happy to be involved on getting them back to a good night. "You've got the song?" Alex asks, leaning over next to Luke. He nods and smiles a little. He knew it needed to be perfect and do exactly what he was good at, sing to her. It wasn't going to fix everything he was sure but it was how he expressed himself. Reggie lit a few candles on the piano, smiling at the scent. "You're in charge of getting her in here." Luke says, looking at Reggie. "I think I can handle that." He says smiling before walking out of the room.
Julie and Flynn woke me up with some hot chocolate. "Thanks guys.." I smile at them and take a sip. I was still kind of in distraught about last night. Luke hadn't come to speak to me or sent one of the guys too which kind of hurt more. We hadn't gone this long without speaking. I hear a knock on the door and look over. Flynn walks over to open it. "Hey, Reg." She says hugging him briefly. I perk up a bit at him. Reggie was always a bright face to see. "Hi." He walks into the room further. He smiles softly at me and walks over to hug me gently. I hug him back. "How's Luke?" I ask quietly, looking up at him. "Not too good. I really think he needs to just sit down and talk to you." Reggie says and sits on the edge of my bed. I wasn't sure if I had it in me to face him yet. It was going to have to come eventually. "Just trust me." Reggie says making me nod. Reggie was right, if Luke wasn't doing good, I needed to put on my big girl pants and go talk to him. I set my mug down and stand up. The girls watch me, Flynn leaning on Reggie softly as he wraps his arm around her. "Okay.." I say and step out of the room. I wasn't exactly sure where Luke was but stopped when I heard a faint sound of a piano. It couldn't have been Alex. Alex didn't like playing the piano. I follow the music and see a cracked door. I slowly push it open to see Luke sitting at the piano. That's when I hear him softly begin to sing.
"Never was an early riser. Used to be an up all nighter. Never saw the morning light quite like I do now." The words leave his lips as I step into the room further. He glances up at me briefly. "Never said no to a party. Never started saving money. Everything is different since you've been around." The lyrics genuinely pour from his heart and I could see that on him. He was easily read when he was singing. "It's the way you're smiling at me. It's the way you hold my hand. It's the way I've watched you change me from a boy to a man. It's a million things about you, and I don't know what it is. I have never known a love like this." He sings softly, his fingers continuing to press the keys to play beautiful music. My eyes couldn't help but get a little teary while I listen to him. I slowly move to sit next to him on the bench. He smiles softly and looks at me. His eyes completely and utterly full of love.
"But I have never known a love like this.." He lets his fingers linger on the keys. I move my hand to place it on top of his. He looks at me again. A tear moves down my cheek as his eyes become teary as well. "I'm sorry.." He says quietly, reaching up to wipe the tear from cheek softly. I lean into his touch. I smile softly and nod. "I know.." I say just as he did, placing my hand over his. He leans over to lean his forehead on mine. I move my arms around his neck gently. "I love you, you know that?" I say giggling when his nose brushes mine. "I love you too." He moves his head to kiss my nose gently. I scrunch it up and pull away to look at him. Alex and Reggie both cheer from the doorway they'd been trying to hide behind. "Crap." Alex says once we look over, grabbing Reggie's sleeve and pulling him away. "It was cute!" Reggie says before his voice gets further away. I laugh softly and look at Luke.
"I promise you with all my heart.. I will never ever take my anger out on you again." He says honestly, kissing my forehead. I nod and look at him. "I'll try not to be so oblivious." I say. He shakes his head a little. "I just got jealous." He rubs his thumb across my cheek gently. I smile and nod again, kissing his lips briefly. "My jealous boy.." I say before he pulls me back in for another kiss.
