in which mike goes to the mall with el for the first time
as they neared the huge building and the tires of his bike screeched on the concrete, eleven's heartbeat only fastened. it's not because she's scared of the mall, oh no of course not. eleanor hopper loves the mall, she loves taking trips to the mall with her friend maxine and exploring the racks of each store.
she's nervous, not because of the amounts of people, no it's because of one certain person.
michael wheeler
even though the two have been dating for as long as they can remember, mike wheeler has never taken el to Starcourt Mall. it's not because he doesn't want to, of course he does! he's begged and begged hopper to let him take el to the mall, but each time he is met with disagreement. so, he just gave up for a little while.
but, this time, mike finally built up the courage to confront hopper about it for the first time in months. luckily for him, the chief of police seemed to be in a happy mood, which scared mike. though, he brushed it off, already too ready to try and fight the man if he rejected him again.
though, to mike's surprise, hopper agreed and was even generous enough to give him money for food. so now the couple is in front of the mall, both very excited. they walked inside, hand in hand, first heading to el's favorite store, gap.
once el had picked up a few items to try on, she had mike sit in front of her dressing room. he really did try and convince her to just try them on while he waits outside the store, but she had wanted to see him react to her outfits. she tried on a couple outfits, mike complimenting her profusely each time. every time she pulled the curtain aside, his eyes just lit up. he thought of her to be the most gorgeous anything on this Earth, no this universe!
towards the end, mike was just playing with his fingers and he heard a curtain open. he looked up to find his el wrapped up in the most amazing dress he's ever seen, though el is the most amazing thing he's ever seen. it was blue and silky, being held up by two thin straps that showed off her slender shoulders and it stuck to her body, all the way down to her ankles. she was radiating, gorgeous, absolutely ethereal. though mike always thought the best of el, no words could describe how she looked with that dress on. it fit her like a glove, like it was made especially for her. her dark chocolate hair rested on her shoulders and her fluffy, pillow like lips captured his attention.
mike slowly stood up, his eyes wide and his mouth agape. el smiled up at him brightly, loving his reaction to the dress.
"w-wow, um, wow. y-you look- wow"
el giggled at mike's attempt to even speak to her. he was in awe of his girlfriend's beauty, so starstruck that he didn't even realize he was walking towards her.
his feet landed right in front of her, still staring down at her while placing his hands on her waist. she was still smiling ear to ear, having already decided that she was definitely buying this dress.
"well, do you like it? i really like it i think i'm gonna buy it, unless you don't lik-"
her self doubt was immediately cut off by mike's lips crashing hers. she smiled into the soft kiss as her eyes fluttered shut. once they pulled apart, they both smiled widely at eachother.
"i love it, almost as much as i love you" he said while grinning at her, booping her nose.
sorry, that was a shitty ending but i hoped you liked my first oneshot ever :))
