"Ouch, my back is hurting like hell!"

Matty slowly opened his eyes to the sound of a womans' voice. He stared at a dark ceiling and then diverted his look to the girl sitting up in the car seat.

"Hi, Sher." he said, vaguely smiling at the acknowledge of her name.

She put a hand to his chest and leaned down. "Hi." a fake smile played on her lips after she spoke. It disappeared as fast as it had shown.

Matty heaved himself up on his elbows and looked at her. Her green eyes was looking straight into his. He leaned in only the slightest, to give her a kiss, but she immediately backed off.

"I said friends." she crawled of the man and opened the car door. Matty watched as she jumped out the car to straighten her back and a noise fell out her mouth as he hands reached for the sky. "Does your head hurt as much as mine?" she asked him yawing.

And when he thought about it, his head did hurt a little. But only a vague ache, -he was kind of used to this.

"Maybe a little." he sat up and made his way to the edge of the seat. His legs hanging outside the car. He lit up a cigarette and started to smoke.

"I actually thought it was going to be colder." Sheryl stated.

"Yeah, well, I'm kind of hot." Matty responded. She just rolled her eyes and turned around from him, walking towards the edge of the cliff.

He watched her as she sat there with her hair blowing in the air. Her shirtsleeve had fallen off her shoulder. He walked up to her and sat down behind her, his legs placed by each side of her. As she leaned in he placed his chin on her shoulder.

They sat there, staring out the edge, looking over the town and just taking it all in. They sat until they decided they were hungry, about that time the sun had almost gone down again. In between they had not just been sitting there, but they've been talking too. Figuring things out about one another.

Matty had gotten to know Sheryl better; like the things she liked, and hated. It wasn't something big but they had discovered that Matty liked writing poetry while Sheryl liked reading it.

Sheryls' phone started to ring and as Matty snook a look at the caller ID, it said: Nathan. Matty raised a brow as she stood up.

"I have to take this." she said quickly. "Hi." she answered the phone.

She walked a bit away from Matty so he wasn't able to hear what she was saying. He was confused that a boy just had called her and he wonder who Nathan was. He stood up and watched her as she paced from spot to spot. A smile grew on her face.

When her eyes locked onto Mattys' the smile faded just a little, almost unnoticeable. He reached out his hands while shrugging his shoulder to ask what was going on and she just waved him off and turned around.

He heard muffled laughs. And he rolled his eyes, since after five minutes his impatience kicked in.

After about ten minutes she returned, a smile on her face.

"What was that about?" he asked her. "Who is Nathan?"

"Oh, uhm. It was my brother." she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, holding her phone. "He was just wondering how i was doing. Nothing special." She smiled, "Shall we go then?"

And she turned around and walked toward the car. Matty followed her and started the car, driving away from the cliff.

-

The food on his plate was almost gone and Matty was already full. He looked over at Sheryl who had ordered a salad but had almost not even touched it. She was playing with something on her phone, not paying attention to was Matty was telling her.

"Hey, Sheryl!" he snapped with his fingers in front of her face.

She looked up at him with a grin on her face. "Yeah?" looking down at her phone again and starting to type something.

"What are you doing?" he asked her. She looked up again.

"Oh, like, texting you know." looking down again.

"Could you maybe like, text later, you know?" he questioned.

She put her phone back in her pocket. "Yeah, sorry." She played with her food with her fork and then she said: "Are you done?"

"Yeah, aren't you gonna eat that?" Matty asked her.

"Oh right." she ate her food fast, and it surprised Matty that she didn't get a stomach ache. "Done!" she said after about five minutes. Putting her fork in her plate.

She stood up and Matty followed her actions, both of them walking toward the exit. Matty slipped his hand between Sheryls' fingers and smiled at her when she turned his way. They walked hand in hand back to his car. It was about half the ride when Matty remembered something.

"Fuck!" he said, looking over at Sheryl. She looked at him with her eyes wide, like she was questioning what was going on. "I forgot to pay for the food." he bursted out.

A laugh escaped her mouth and she immediately put a hand to hide it.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I'm sorry!" she chuckled, "It's just that, it's not a big deal." she shrugged.

"What do you mean not a big deal? That was a lot of money, I can get caught and-"

She turned to the window. "Take it easy, wow. It's not like your name is written on the plate."

"But what if-"

"I really thought this was normal to you? I didn't think that you could feel any kind of sympathy." she said plainly.

"You are really stereotyping me by my looks, aren't you?"

She just shrugged and winked at him. "Maybe."

"No really, I want to know how people see me."

"What do you mean?" she asked, looking at him while he was driving. He turned and faced her, furrowing his eyebrows. His fingers tapped the steering weal to the beat of the music.

"Yeah, like. What was your first impression of me? I want to know what others think of me when they first meet me."

"Why?" she said while shaking her head. "It's just stupid. Why would you care about what others think. It's just you, not anyone else. If you are happy with how you dress and act then continue to dress and act like that," she paused and then looked at her hands. "yeah." she said under her breath.

And then all of a sudden she became that shy again, like he was intruding her private life.
