**Caroline's POV**

*knock knock*

No answer.

In my experience that usually means it's a teenager, and they don't want to be here.

I opened the the door, slowly, and walked in.

I grabbed the clipboard off the table.

"Hello, Britney."

"Hi." she didn't look at me. In fact she stared out the window, hands crossed. It was like she was embarrassed.

I looked over the entire review quickly. She's pregnant.

I cleared my throat and tried to stay calm. I've never done a check-up for a pregnant person before. Not to mention a teen.

I started with the simple, basic questions.

"How do you spell your last name?"

"C-A-R-S-O-N."

"Date of birth?"

"May 18th, 1998."

"How old are you?"

"16." the entire time she continued to stare out the window. Ok, I'm putting "doctor me" on pause for a minute.

"Britney, look at me."

She didn't.

"Britney. I'm a friend now, not a nurse, not a doctor"

She hesitated, but turned around, and for the first time I saw her face. She was really pretty. Soft brown eyes, not what I was expecting considering her blonde hair.

"Is this your first appointment?" I had to ask, because not much was filled out.

She nodded.

"How far along are you?"

"Almost three months."

I felt a pang of sympathy for her. Bigger than the first one when I found out she was pregnant. She's 16, still in school. High school is bad enough with homework, tests, college and mean girls, but it's about to get way worse for her.

"H-how far along are you?" She asked.

"Almost five months."

"That's cool." she mumbled.

Ok. That's it. I am going to cheer her up, and at the very least get a smile from her if it is the last thing I do.

"Ok listen. I know that this is hard ok. Believe me, this baby," I put my hand on my stomach. "was not planned. I'm not married, or engaged. And this baby wasn't even my boyfriend's."

She stared at me, wide eyed.

"And I know that you're in high school, and this is probably really hard for you, but it's gonna make you stronger."

I saw a tear escape from her eye.

"My friends don't talk to me." she said quietly. "My boyfriend dumped me. And my parents, I I don't even wanna know what they're gonna say."

"You haven't told them?"

She shook her head.

"You have to tell them. They'll still love you. And they'll help you. How else will you pay for all the appointments and other stuff?"

"I was just gonna keep signing up for these free appointments."

"There aren't many other nurses coming in for finals for another month."

"If I tell them, instead of waiting for them to find out, will you go with me? They'll be a lot nicer with someone else there."

I wasn't really expecting that question. But I guess that's how I'd tell my parents if I were her.

"Yes."

~•~

I got home half an hour later. We finished the appointment and I have her my number to call when she was ready to talk to her parents. It's all kind of weird, but I'm glad I'm able to help her more then a regular nurse or doctor.

"Harry. I'm home." I said when I walked through the front door.

No reply.

"Harry?"

Nothing. He's probably out with some friends or something.

I had a small bowl of fruit salad and went upstairs to take a shower.
