I just discovered three cut songs from the 1992 Newsies.
Okay. So the first one is called What Will Become Of The Boy? It was supposed to be a solo sung by Sarah at some point in the movie, but it got cut because the song supposedly didn't go with the plot of the movie and the song was meant for a soprano and Ele Keats is an alto. I think this song would have given Sarah more character development than she got in the final cut of the movie. I would love to hear the song if there was a recording of it.
The second song is called The Truth About The Moon. It was supposed to be a duet between Jack and Sarah. I think it was supposed to take place during the rooftop scene in the movie. This song has been performed by Dan Deluca and Joey Barrierio, who both were Jack Kelly on the North American Tour of the Broadway version of Newsies. I feel like this song would have been amazing in the movie. It still would have given Sarah more character development in the movie.
Here's the video of Dan Deluca and Joey Barrierio singing The Truth About The Moon:
The third song that got cut is called Point Of No Return. It was going to be in the movie instead of Once And For All. Les was supposed to have some lines in the song and Sarah was supposed to have more lines than she did in Once And For All. It was cut before filming began and was replaced with Once And For All. I love Once And For All. I mean, it's one of my favorite songs in the movie, but Sarah needed more than one lyric in a song and needed some character development. I would really like to listen to this song and see how it differs from Once And For All, but I don't think a recording of this song exists.I would have loved to seen these songs make it into the final cut of the movie.
That's it for this chapter.
