The locked room

It was hard for me to fall asleep. I guess I was pretty exhausted last night that I ended up falling asleep easily and quickly without any problems.

I spent a little over an hour tossing around on my bed before finally giving up and deciding on going on a walk to helpfully tire me out and make me fall asleep a little easier.

I ended up walking in the garden for a mere 5 minutes due to the cold weather and because I wasn't dressed well and couldn't stop shivering. I sighed as I walked through the hallway back to my room still not feeling drowsy. I ended up walking near the door we passed by in the morning which Alya seemed nervous to talk about. I was contemplating on whether I should ignore the urge of checking what could possibly be inside that no one is allowed to enter or just simply go back to my room without getting myself in possible trouble.

Just like the saying goes 'curiosity killed the cat', I approached the closed door which surprisingly had its locks open and went straight to the door knob and turned it. The door opened and I found myself going in. What first caught my eye was a table. The table looked quite simple. It was very dark inside but I was still able to make out the design of it and the color. It was dark brown and had many scratches on it. Around it, there were 4 chairs with similar designs and color.

I frowned at why in the world would this be an important thing to be hidden within this room.

What I came across next was a frame sort of thing. It was covered so I couldn't quite see it and as I tried to uncover it, I only made it halfway through before the door was quickly opened.

"What are you doing here?"

I was terrified. I slowly turned around and looked at the person who suddenly walked in petrified of what I have gotten myself into.

"My lady, didn't I tell you not to bother with this room?"

I sighed in relief. "Alya, thank goodness it's you. I felt as if my heart was about to jump out of my chest."

"I'm so glad I checked on you! I had a strange feeling of wanting to check on you and then when I didn't find you in your room I thought you'd be here. We should leave quickly. His highness will most probably get here any moment now."

I nodded as I followed her out of the room and we headed back to mine.

"My lady, I hope you never do that again. That was a dangerous thing to do."

"Dangerous? Why would that be?"

"It's not a place anyone can get in. His highness strictly prohibited the entrance of anyone other than him, and he said that anyone who disobeys his order will be punished heavily." She spoke out in fear. "I know I told you that he's kind and all but he does tend to get scary when he's angry, so please try as much as possible to avoid that."

"I-I understand. I'll be careful from now on." I said regretfully.

"I will leave you to rest now. Have a pleasant night!"

"Good night to you too!"

And so I was left all alone with my head full of billion thoughts and questions running around. By the end, I couldn't catch a wink of sleep.
