1993:
"Oh come on Alex!" I complained, "Why can't I join the band?"
"I don't want you to, and besides, you don't want to hang out with four guys all the time," he said.
"Are you sure about that?" I asked and he glared at me.
"Pleeeeeeease, I'll do your chores for the next two months," I begged.
"Volunteering to do my chores and being in a band are two completely different things, the answer is still no," he said.
"But-"
"No, quit asking, I'm going to keep saying no." I rolled my eyes and went up to my room, I don't get what the big deal was.
I wanted to be a part of Sunset Curve so bad, I was great at playing the guitar, and was a good singer, and I doubt Alex's friends would mind. Maybe I should just ask them if I can join, if they agreed Alex would be out voted, all right that's what I'll do tomorrow.
The next day I went to where the boys rehearsed before Alex got there so I could talk to the other guys.
"Hey Autumn, what are you doing here?" Reggie asked noticing I had walked into the room.
"I wanted to ask you guys something," I said looking between the three guys.
"Go for it," Luke said tuning his guitar.
"Well, I was wondering if I could maybe join the band?"
The room was silent for a moment while the guys looked at each other.
"Sure, why not," Bobby said.
"Yeah, having a girl in the band could draw in more people," Luke mentioned.
"I'm happy to have you in the band no matter what," Reggie said smiling at me.
"Thank you!" I said excitedly.
"Did you bring your guitar?" Luke asked looking up at me.
"No, I didn't, I wasn't sure how this would go," I responded.
Luke pointed at a guitar in the corner of the room, "You can use that one for today."
"Hey guys, sorry I'm a little late I had to- Autumn what are you doing here?" He asked stopping mid-sentence.
"Oh well, I'm uh...your new bandmate surprise," I said throwing my hand into the air.
"Seriously? I told you I didn't want you joining the band!" He said getting upset.
"I know, and I'm sorry, but I really wanted to do this, please don't make me quit," I pleaded with him.
"I can't believe you went behind my back like this, did you even tell these guys I didn't want you to join?" he asked while looking at Luke, Reggie, and Bobby who said nothing.
"I-I didn't, but they want me to join and I could benefit the band Alex come on," I said getting desperate.
"I can't practice right now, I'm sorry guys, I'll see you later," Alex said before leaving.
"Autumn, why didn't you tell us Alex didn't want you to join?" Luke asked.
"I didn't think you'd let me join if I told you, and now you probably won't let me join anyway," I said.
"If it comes down to it, we need a drummer more than another guitarist," Bobby said looking to Luke.
"Yeah, but I think we'll be able to get Alex to come around," Luke said, "Until then I think it's best if we cancelled practice."
