"that asshole is never capturing me again." keiko exclaimed, walking through the town. she had managed to escape him for the second time. it was ironic really because she could be hiding from him, instead she was making it easier for him to find her.
"what's this?" she mumbled coming to a stop where there were crowds surrounding beautiful lanterns and people that were playing music nearby.
"wow it's beautiful." a voice said from beside her as they gasped and stared up, amazed.
"it really is." she replied, turning to look at the person. her eyes widened and she prevented herself from stuttering as she thought of a way to get out of there as quick as possible. he glanced down at her and she quickly looked away. "i'm sorry, but i must be on my way now."
"wait a minute..." the guy was quick to hold onto her wrist, making her let out a quiet curse under her breath. "it's you! from the other night."
"i don't know what you're talking about." she said, raising a confused eyebrow at him. she took her hand back and began walking away, slowly. she was taught from a young age to be good at deception. training to use a poker face and clear sentences in serious situations was crucial as it could get her out or away from trouble.
the man was about to follow after her and she made the mistake of looking over her shoulder to see that there were two other people a small distance away.
"sano, are you harassing girls again?" one of them asked, making their way over to the two with a girl, who keiko recognised from yesterday at the inn.
"shinpachi, look." the man who had confronted keiko said, pointing a finger at her.
"i've seen you before!" he exclaimed.
"i have no idea who you are and it's rude to point fingers." keiko replied, folding her arms and fixing her posture to show off a sense of authority, possibly to intimidate or convince them to back off. she wasn't sure, but was prepared to make a run for it if necessary.
"we need you to come with us." the sano man told her, stepping closer. he didn't bring out any weapons showing his willingness to do this peacefully, but keiko had other things in mind.
"uh maybe we should-" the other girl began saying, but was cut off by a sudden burst of fake anger.
"you're all crazy! i have places to be." keiko spat, her chin and nose up. she really was trying her best to seem like a snob and someone she actually wasn't, but the men didn't seem to budge.
"we'll take you by force then." shinpachi said, a confident grin on his face, as if to say it was an easy task.
"catch me first."
"excuse me?"
"you heard me." keiko smirked, breaking from her fake character. within seconds she had zoomed down a narrow alleyway. surprisingly, she could hear the footsteps close behind her.
she reached the end of the alleyway that was a dead end, but had stacked boxes close by so she quickly jumped on, then climbed up the wall and onto a houses roof. it was easy to do things like this and even easier to escape people. they didn't call her a sly fox for nothing.
she continued jumping from building to building and once she got to a place she assumed they wouldn't be able to find her, she rested against one of the walls, panting.
