I stand outside Lucy's bedroom not sure if I should go inside or give her time. After a while I decide she must need a friend, or at least someone to talk to. Slowly I walk in, she's standing at the window looking out into the dark night. I'm not sure what to say to her but lucky for me she speaks first.

"Some family dinner huh" She turns to me smiling, although her eyes say something else.

"Could've been worst" I say jokingly.

"Worst than that? I doubt it" She sighs and then smiles.

"I'm really sorry about what happened" I say honestly.

She's silent for a while before speaking again.

"My father has always been like that so I'm used to it. Even when my mother was alive he was like that... even when she was on her deathbed" she says the last part softly.

I frown.

"His company has always been more important to him than anything else" She continues. "My mother was dying and he was away on business trips probably with his mistress. I had to go through her sickness alone with her. I was just ten... Watching everyday as the person you love the most slowly leaves you...He just came for the funeral and he was gone the next day. After my mom died it was just boarding schools for me. I didn't get a chance to mourn her properly before I was sent away."

Even though she's putting on a brave face I knew she was hurting a lot inside. Her eyes shine with tears and her hands tremble, the only indication of the pain she's feeling.

My heart aches for her that she had to go through all of that alone at such a young age. She must have suffered so much, no wonder she resented her dad so much and I couldn't blame her.

I do the only thing I can do and embrace her in a very tight hug.

"Im so sorry" I whisper.

After a while she pulls away, completely calm and in control. She was so strong.

"Thank you Juvia" She smiles warmly at me.

"Let's get out of here yeah?"

"Of course" I reply.

We gather our things and head out the door without another glance back.

"Natsu is having a small get together with some friends at his place. What do you say we head there? I could really use some drinks" She tells me.

"Sounds fun" I smile trying to lighten the mood.

We hit the road again, the music blasting as Lucy and I sing our lungs out to the lyrics.

It's almost eleven by the time we get to Natsu's place. Lucy rings the doorbell and the door opens. The music is loud, there's a bunch of people scattered around, this is more a party instead of a small get together.

Most of the people here I've never seen before. We spot Levy across the room by a long table filled with different bottles of alcohol, she sees us and waves us over. My eyes wander around the room looking for Gray.

He has to be here.

"Glad you ladies made it" Natsu comes out of nowhere in front of us, smiling.

He has a bottle in his hand which Lucy snatches away and takes a huge drink.

"Couldn't find anyone else to bother" She says sarcastically taking another drink of the bottle.

"Exactly" He grins.
