Saiki took a deep breath before taking on the stairs, then slowly and carefully started down. He didn't want to fall and mess up his fancy ensemble. To his surprise, he made it without getting hurt! After feeling happy with himself for a split second, he felt guilty for even considering this an accomplishment. He decided there wasn't time for getting deep into thought, so he grabbed his cell phone and house key off of the table and started to rush out the door, but his parents halted him.

"W-wait a second Kusuo! You have time to at least say goodbye to us?" His mom said, fighting back tears just like her son did minutes before.

"Oh yeah, bye." He said, rather bluntly. He probably would have made a grander goodbye if he wasn't going to see them later, but he had plans to spend his last hours with them anyways. His mom gave him a certain look, which Kusuo couldn't tell was disappointment or sadness, or maybe a supremely negative mix of both. He grew sick of feeling guilty for unimportant things all day, so he gave in and hugged her. Then, more reluctantly, his father. Even though all his father did with him was ask for favors and complain about marital issues with his wife after Kusuo's powers disappeared, he was still his father. He didn't deserve the hug, but received one anyway. This happened with many things in his life. He was lazy and greedy, and uncommitted since he couldn't keep even a simple job, but still; he was one of the luckiest men alive.

After what seemed like the longest goodbye he had ever indulged in, Saiki was on the street, and to his misfortune he saw the "three idiots" across from where he was walking. He was going to try and avoid them, but he remembered.. his might be the last time he could see them. So, feeling guilt tripped by his own mind once again, he made his way over.

"Hey Saiki!" Said Kaidou, while the other two turned to face Kusuo.

"Hey."

They walked in silence during the trip to school. Saiki wasn't exactly good at reading people's emotions, but even he could feel that something was off. The three of them, even Nendou, provided tension so thick that Kusuo could throw up. But, this time at least, Kusuo promised himself not to give into other people's never ending need to be comfortable. Saiki let himself stop focusing until they were almost to the stage entrance where they would participate in the Final Ceremony, when he heard soft, shaky breathing. He snapped out of it and looked at the group, with slight apprehension in his eyes. Kaidou had the sleeve of his suit over his eyes, and his face had gone red while tears fell onto his cheeks. Saiki was mortified, he had never seen any of them cry before. Then again, Kaidou certainly had a reason to be. Kusuo seemed to be the first one to notice, so without giving any consideration to it, he grabbed Kaidou by both shoulders and stopped moving, so they were facing each other. Kusuo was staring daggers into his eyes, and exclaimed;

"Kaidou??"

He put his arm down to his side, but his face was flushed even more than before. "Um.. Saiki?"

"What the hell am I doing?" was one of the countless thoughts that flooded into Kusuo's mind at that moment.

"Uh.. why were you.. crying..?" His voice trailed off. He immediately took his hands down, and his face flushed too. It was a strange feeling, and quite an uncomfortable one. Weirdly enough, he had never blushed before. And he never wished to do it again, ever.

Kaidou, drowning in embarrassment and resentment explained;

"The world is ending, Saiki! Why the hell wouldn't I be? I tried to save it with my powers.. but Dark Reunion was too far ahead, it was too late. I even did this.."

He tilted his arm upward, to reveal that he ripped off the bandages that he had once worn proudly. He had some bruises, probably from left there from the infectious gauze. Ridiculous as he thought it was, Saiki felt a sickness deep inside him when Kaidou showed him.

"It's ok, I know now. All that stuff I made up.. it's not real. It was like I made a hole other universe just to hide from this one." Kaidou's voice broke when he spoke. "But you know what? This time life is real. This last day, is my first real one."

Aren and Nendou sniffled, and soon just burst out sobbing and hugged him. Saiki stood behind, but it was clear he was proud of Kaidou. As much as he thought of them as hopeless morons, he was still jealous of one thing. At least they could experience emotions the right way.

After the other members of the group stopped crying, which took quite a while, they made it to the ceremony at last. Aren held open the door and a warm burst of air from the inside hit them. As they stepped inside and broke off from one another, Saiki's heart skipped a beat when he saw someone.

AN: HAHAHAHA, CLIFFHANGER. I promise to write more in the near future, but I might need a day because writing this physically hurt, like damn that last line from Kaidou is putting me through the five stages of grief. Anyway, depressing fanfiction aside, I hope you have a wonderful day/night/evening, and I'll see you next chapter <3

(P.S; I hope I could satisfy all the Kaidou X Saiki shippers with this chapter, I'm a multishipper myself! I like Saiki X Teruhashi and Saiki X Kaidou :D)
