The day had finally arrived when Krishna was to marry the beautiful and virtuous Rukmini. Subhadra and Arjun were brimming with excitement, but their excitement had little to do with the wedding itself—it was because of the mischievous plans they had been cooking up for weeks.
In Rukmini's Chamber:
Rukmini sat in front of a large gilded mirror, her cheeks flushed with the anticipation of her wedding. She adjusted her jewelry and smoothed the delicate folds of her bridal attire. Beside her sat Subhadra, talking non-stop about all the wedding preparations, occasionally teasing her future sister-in-law.
“Oh, Bhabhishree, why are you blushing so much already?” Subhadra teased, her voice brimming with mischief. “The marriage hasn’t even happened yet!”
Rukmini’s blush deepened, her face turning an even darker shade of red. Subhadra, noticing this, stood behind her and giggled. “You look so adorable when you blush!”
Before Rukmini could respond, Subhadra’s laughter was interrupted by a pair of hands covering her eyes. A sly smile spread across Subhadra’s face as she immediately guessed who it was.
“Ah, this must be the girl with so much dandruff in her hair!” she exclaimed mischievously.
“What?!” came the indignant cry of Dushala, who immediately released Subhadra and began frantically inspecting her hair.
Subhadra burst out laughing, joined by Rukmini and Kunti, who had just entered the room. Dushala, realizing she’d been tricked, made a mock-puppy face, which only caused the others to laugh even harder.
“Bua, Dushala! Both of you are here!” Subhadra exclaimed gleefully. “But where are my Pandava brothers?”
Kunti smiled and replied, “They’ve gone to surprise Arjun, of course.” With that, they left Rukmini to her preparations and made their way to Krishna’s chamber.
In Krishna’s Chamber:
Meanwhile, Arjun was in Krishna’s chamber, talking animatedly about the day’s festivities. However, Krishna was only half-listening, his thoughts wandering to Rukmini. Arjun noticed his cousin’s distraction and pouted dramatically.
“Why am I even talking?” Arjun declared, crossing his arms. “It’s like I’m speaking to a ghost! You’re so lost in thoughts of Bhabhishree.”
Krishna snapped out of his reverie and stammered, “No, no, Parth! I heard everything you said.”
“Really?” Arjun said with mock seriousness. “Then tell me what I just said.”
Krishna paused, thinking hard. “Uh... something about... Dwarka? And Hastinapura?”
Arjun glared at him. “I knew it! You didn’t hear a word I said!”
Krishna chuckled, his eyes twinkling. “Honestly, Parth, your stories are useless!”
“Useless?!” Arjun exclaimed, feigning offense. “Fine, now that Bhabhishree is coming into your life, I suppose you won’t care about me anymore.”
Krishna smiled and shook his head at Arjun’s theatrics. Just then, a pair of hands covered Arjun’s eyes. Recognizing the touch, he smirked.
“Hmm… I think ladoos taste bitter…” Arjun began, but before he could finish, Bheem grabbed him by the neck.
“What did you say about my ladoos?!” Bheem demanded playfully.
The entire chamber erupted into laughter as Bheem pretended to throttle Arjun. Even Krishna couldn’t suppress his grin.
