I pulled the hair from her neck and instantly she tensed looking away. I sighed. I threaded my fingers through her soft hair and then bit her neck gently. Her blood remained as bitter sweet as sour candy as when I first fed from her. She puts her hand on my chest trying to push me away.
I quickly pulled back realizing I was taking too much. I picked up the scarf that I pulled off and gently wrapped it back around her neck. She kept her eyes on the rosses not saying anything. I sighed watching her but, growing impatient I set my hand on the side of her face turning her towards me. Still she manages to avoid my eyes by glancing to the side.
“Tiffany… My little Rose why won’t you look at me?” Her eyes traveled to mine, she still remained quiet but, her eyes said fear. I rubbed my thumb against her cheek and she pulled away. I took a deep breath and took my hand away. “Ashlen is going to go shopping tomorrow, would you like to join her or spend another day at the office.”
She scoots away from me to lay down on the log. I brush away the hair from her face, only to see her cringe away again. “I guess I will go shopping.” She speaks after silence. I nodded and we both sat there in silence. I watched as the wind gently tossed her hair with the rose petals. Eventually as the moon and stars rose, her eyes flutter shut as she fell asleep.
I smiled. It faded soon when she trembled from the temperature dropping in the night. I picked her up and started to walk her back to the house. I took her up to her bedroom and tucked her in. I walked out gently closing the door behind and locking it keeping the others out. I walked down the hall and taken a turn I knocked on a door. “Who’s there?”
“Ashlen it’s just me… open the stupid door.”
“It’s already open.” I sighed walking into her bedroom. She was laying on her bed writing in her journal. I sat on her bed next to her. “What do you want?” She asks closing her journal wrapping it in the leather cord.
“Are you still going to the mall tomorrow?”
“Yes why?”
“Would you mind if Tiffany accompanied you?”
“I wouldn’t mind… but, I have one condition.” I turned my head looking at her, curious. “Tell me why you are so fond of this human, Tiffany?” I rolled my eyes.
“You can’t be serious?”
“I wouldn’t have ask you if I wasn’t.”
“She is different, she’s cute, and I never tasted human blood quite like hers… you happy?”
She giggles. “You are always so moody… And I only thought you had a soft spot for me.” I scoffed shaking my head. “I am having a few others coming with me if that won’t be a problem.”
“Who?”
“Piper, Copper, and Felix.”
“Okay… just keep her safe.”
She giggles softly but nods. “Okay but, I have a question. Why do you want her to come? You know possibly anything could happen to her when she leaves the house. She could even try to contact her mother again.”
“I know both are highly possible, but I can’t keep her locked up. She is bored here and she is still deathly scared of me. The only reason Tiffany follows me around is because she feels like she doesn’t have a choice.”
She sighs sitting up. She raises her arms in the air stretching and walked to the end of the bed. I looked up at her. She pushed her golden hair behind her ear. Ashlen shook her head at me. “If I just met you I would be scared of you too.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean everything from the look in your eye screams danger. You may speak and act gentle but, Tiffany tells it’s just an act. She knows you would hurt her if she disobeys you. You obviously don’t even see that she is too scared to speak. ”
I laid back staring at the celling. She picked up her journal sliding it in the first draw of her nightstand. Do I really come off that cruel? She lays down next to me and she pokes my cheek. “I didn’t make you upset… did I?” She asks taunting. I quickly grabbed her hand as she tried to touch my face again.
“I’m fine.” I sat up. She mumbles something about me being moody and went to poke my cheek again. I snapped at her letting my fangs grow and eyes turning red. She just started laughing. I pulled my fangs back and couldn’t stop myself from chuckling. “You’re such a child.” She shrugs pulling a pack of cards from her nightstand.
Till the sun rose we played cards. Leaving on a win she told me she wanted to leave to the mall in an hour. I nodded helping her put the cards away. Leaving her room, I went to Tiffany’s. She laid peacefully in her bed cuddled up in her blankets. I smiled leaning next to her bed. I gently shook her shoulder. “Tiffany… Tiffany wake up.” I whispered softly. Her eyes then fluttered opened wide and she screamed.
