The Cocky Conquer

Chapter 14

Third POV

Captain Levi and the cadets make it back inside the walls safely with Mikasa. There were many people waiting for them to return. They shouted and cheered as they rode their horses back to the stables.

Erwin and Hange were there to meet them along with the new training cadets. As they got off their horses, everyone saluted Erwin as he did the same with a smile on his face. Erwin looked at Levi and gave him a sincere look that read "good job". Levi only nodded his head while tying up his horse. As everyone finishes tying up their horse, he tells them to meet him in the meeting room as soon as possible.

Levi's POV

I sit down in my chair along with Erwin and Hange by my side as the cadets enter the meeting room. They all sit down around the table waiting for me to speak. "Mikasa, tell us what happened before we came to rescue you." She nods her head and begins to speak.

"That day I had a headache, Valorie snuck into the infirmary room telling me to come along with her or else she would hurt you guys. I didn't have a choice so I met her in a cabin that was in the forest outside the walls. She then reneged and sent her soldiers to come attack you guys and everything went black."

I furrow my eyebrows recalling the time arrows were shot in the windows creating fire in the hallways. "Did she tell you why she needed you?" She shakes her head no hesitantly.

"She really didn't explain much but she said she didn't want to hurt me but she would've. I escaped the cell I was in to only be chased after soldiers when I left. I went back through a window to find a boy named Adrian there. I helped him escaped and he took us to an old man who lived away from the market and dungeon."

Erwin raised his hand to stop her from speaking. "Did he ever tell you what the name of the old man was?" "No, not once was his name mentioned. The old man explained that I was needed to help stop the war that was between Valorie and the Beast Titan." Mikasa pauses for a moment and hesitantly speaks again. "They tried to get my mom and dad but they failed to do so. Over time they were only tracking me down to come kidnap me."

"No wonder Valorie showed up suddenly and was only after you. I should've known something was up.", I said as I pinch the bridge of my nose and shaking my head.

"We didn't know what to expect. But now we know why she wanted Mikasa.", Erwin said as if he wanted to reassure me. Mikasa gasps and quickly stands up on her feet.

"We must hurry and defend the walls. I'm pretty sure Valorie knows I've escaped and they'll be coming for me soon!" Armin grabs her hand and signals her to sit down and be calm.

"Commander Erwin, what should we do?", Armin says with a worrying tone. "For now, we should get everyone ready to prepare for an attack. I have a feeling this will be a nasty battle. Hange, you must warn the Military Police about what's happening and tell them to evacuate the people that lives here and get them closer inside the walls." Hange salutes him and then runs off to do what he says.

"Levi will be in charge of you guys and I'll be with the new training cadets. Get your odm gear on and ready to prepare for the worst. Make me proud."

They then stand up to salute Erwin and I as they all leave the room. Now people were running all over place doing anything that means necessary. I quickly put on my ODM gear and cape and refilled my swords and tanks. My mind was set on battle as I craved to kill people.

As I was running toward the horse stables along with other cadets, my mind was raging with anger. The grip I had on my sword only tightened to the point where I could break it. Suddenly I snapped back into reality and looked into my hand to see my sword had a dent.

Tch. This isn't like me getting angry over something that already happened.

I looked up to see everyone but Mikasa gone on their horses ready for my commands. We locked eyes with each as what seems like years. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She then averted her gaze down to her feet as she blushed.

I swore I could feel myself smiling at her cute actions. I walked up to her and held her hand in mines. My mouth started moving on its own. "Glad to see you're still here with us Mikasa." She smiles at my words and clenches my hand.

"Thank you for at least trying to find me Captain Levi." I put my finger on her lips and shake my head slowly while looking into her blackish grey eyes. "It's Levi to you. Call me that whenever we're alone."

I walk back to my horse leaving her stunned until she finally begins to move and get on her horse. The only thing I could hear was my heart beating so loudly in my chest. I raised my hand up to my chest trying to at least calm myself down before I lose myself.

We make our way over to where the cadets are on their horses. They stop chatting and face towards me in silence as Mikasa joins right beside them. "We will first have the training cadets that are with Erwin to hide in the houses that's close to the wall. They won't attack unless Valorie and her people manage to get through us. I doubt if they have the gear like us."

"But Captain, isn't there a chance for them to have some updated equipment that can overcome ours." My gaze goes over to Armin who only looks at me waiting on an answer.

"Yeah there might be a chance but we won't let that stop us from fighting them. We will be perched on top of the walls and won't attack until they're close by the trees that are located outside the walls. Remember, we are only killing the ones we can. No taking anyone in hostage."

After telling them the strategy we disperse off into position on top of the walls. We hide behind the cannons to conceal our presence until they are lured into the right spot.

The plan is going smoothly, for now. People are evacuated and we have the Military Police for backup if things go south along with Erwin and the new cadets. It shouldn't be that much of a problem since we have two humanity's strongest soldiers fighting side by side against the enemy.

We wait in our spot for the target. Waiting for the enemy to be stupid enough to think they can just waltz right into our place.

Little do they know that this is the last time they'll be able to come into a home. They won't be able to lay a hand on Mikasa while I'm here.

In the distance I could see people headed our way as I readied my swords and signal the cadets to do the same.

We'll give them hell right here where they stand.
