Chapter 13 - Preparation

It had been a month since you got engaged to Shota, and you were incredibly happy. There was only one problem; Shota didn't seem to be as excited as you and Hizashi.

"So... when do you wanna have it?"

"Have what?"

"Your wedding!" Hizashi's words snapped Shota back to reality. He looked down at his lap where there was a stack of wedding magazines. He exhaled loudly.

"Do I have to help? I don't care what happens, you can choose whatever Y/n." He took the magazines off his legs and zipped himself up in his sleeping bag laying his head in your lap. You sighed and looked at Hizashi.

"Ever since I got that sleeping bag he's been falling asleep in the weirdest places."

"He sleeps at work." You deadpanned.

"I'm not surprised." You and Hizashi continued to look at dresses and venues for another hour. The work was tiring and honestly kind of boring so the two of you quit.

"You know what? We should just have a small ceremony or go to court."

"That's not romantic at all!!" Hizashi shouted.

"I know but look." You gestured at Shota. "We're not the kind of people who have a huge wedding bash."

"Okay..." You hugged Hizashi.

"Thanks for helping me so much though. You know, if someone told me a year ago you would be helping me plan my wedding I'd think they were crazy. Also I'd hope I was marrying you!" You laughed about your old crush and admiration for Present Mic. Now you knew him as Hizashi. You knew him personally and he was just a really good friend. Hizashi laughed nervously.

"Yeah... that would be weird."

"You know, I don't know how big I want the wedding to be... but I know I definitely want a really beautiful dress."

"You're already beautiful." He murmured.

"Huh?"

"N-nothing!"

"Do you want to come with me? I think I'm just going to look at dresses... you don't have to come though. I can see how boring it would be for you. I mean, look at Shota."

"I'll come with you!" So you and Hizashi took the subway to a nearby store leaving Shota to sleep at home. As soon as you arrived at the store, you wanted to try things on. The original plan was just to look around but it was all too tempting not to try anything on. After collecting a few of the ones you liked with the help of a worker, you went to the dressing room.

"What do you think?" You turned so Hizashi could see the whole dress.

"It's very nice but-"

"But I think we can do better." You finished. You went back into the room to change. As you came back out you did another spin to let him see the whole thing.

"Not gonna lie, this one makes me feel like a princess." You looked at Hizashi for a response, but he said nothing. You went in front of him and waved your hand in front of his face.

"OH! Uh- this one is very nice. Yeah." He looked away and you noticed something was off.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing! The dress is great."

"Not the dress. I mean you. Are you bored? We can go."

"No. I'm not bored. I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Besides... you can't really help me with my problem."

"Try me."

"Nope!" Hizashi forced a smile. "Come on. Let's keep going. My two best friends are getting married. This is an important moment!" You laughed.

"If you say so!" Little did you know that it was an important moment for Hizashi.

Until the day he died he would remember the way you looked at him in that wedding dress.
