😞

Caylus' heart dropped to his stomach when he saw who was calling. They had probably already seen the video he had posted. Kiera decided to leave the room as this was a private conversation between Caylus and his parents. This needed to be settled once and for all. He needed closure on this situation, he needed to let it all out. If his parents wanted the truth, they would get the truth. He loved Kiera, and NOTHING would get between that.

With his new found confidence, Caylus answered the phone,

"Uhh, yes?" he asked, playing dumb on purpose.

"Don't play games with me Caylus." said his father, his voice thick with aggression. Caylus, shocked by his tone, didn't reply.

"If you thought that your little act would go unnoticed, you have another thing coming."

Caylus could hear his father's voice shaking with fury and disappointment.

"I-"

But before Caylus could reply, his father cut him off intentionally and continued,

"Your mother and I are disgusted by your behaviour. You are to return home and explain yourself by tomorrow, or else you may never be welcome in our household again."

Caylus' hands began to tremble as he realized the severity of the situation. He couldn't understand why they couldn't accept that he was in love with Kiera, and was planning to even marry her. He felt so alone as he fought this battle against his parents. He felt rejected by them, he felt unwanted, like something that they could just throw away. With tears streaming down his face, he shouted,

"I love her, why can't you understand that!" He had held this in long enough. He had to show his parents that he was his own person.

"That doesn't mean she is good for you." his father snaps back.

"I'm not breaking up with the love of my life to please whatever family hated you have against the English! " He shouts.

"It's what's best for you!" His father roars back.

"If you really loved me, you would be happy that i found Kiera."

Silence.

"Caylus-" his father says between gritted teeth, "We cannot let you marry her, you know why. You don't love her, you can't love her, she's nothing, she's worthless. And if you're willing to marry her, then so are you."

Caylus' father disowned him on the spot.

Caylus dropped the phone in shock. That was it. He had no family to come home to. He had no place to call home, he had no mother or father. No annoying aunts and uncles, or crazy cousins. He wouldn't even be able to say he had siblings.

He was alone.

He covered himself with the blankets and fresh tears began to fall down as he replayed the memories of his childhood in his head.

His family was always a proud family, proud of the achievements that they had been able to tie to the Cunningham surname.

His surname had no meaning to it now.

His father, the man who had raised him since childhood, the man who had nurtured him and laughed with him, scolded him because he loved him, had just thrown him away. Like he was nothing, like he was worthless.

He was worthless now.

The room was completely silent except for the occasional sniffing of his nose. Even when Kiera had decided to come back, he had remained completely silent. Even when Kiera begged him to speak, to say something, he found that he could say nothing.

Who was he?
