"Im me, thats what matters.."
Those words stuck in the back of Todoroki's thoughts, how could a simple conversation, much less one he didn't mean to hear, change his way of thinking.
"I'm my own person. Respect that."
The similar voice of his classmate whispered from behind a wall of some sort. In that moment he didn't know if he should listen or not.
"You can't change me, and I'm proud to be me."
Small sentences could be hear, Todoroki kept zoning out only hearing bits and pieces.
For some reason the only sentences he could hear where the ones he needed most.
He never once expected his nonbinary classmate, someone who he didn't talk to, and much the less knew nothing about, to hit him so deep.
The words rang in his thoughts throughout the day, nothing bothered him more then you unknowly making him feel better.
"Y/N." You're split haired classmate said, some of his white on the wrong side.
"Hi Todoroki.." You said, getting distraced by his hair, causing you to fix it.
"Y-y/n What the-" He cut himself off, wanting to ask you something.
"Besides that.. y/n might I ask what you were talking about, saying how you were your own person.. Can I be my own person?" Todoroki's question caught you off-guard, why was he asking you that.
"Anyone could be their own person Todorok-"
"Call me Shoto." He cut you off, wanting to not use his father's name.
"Okay Shoto.. Just be brave and you can be your own person, seperated from family, friends, classmates, haters, the past even." The words made him happy, being his own person, being brave enough to express himself.
Long story short Just imagine the person called "Y/n" talking to yourself.
Be brave and be your own person.
You can seperate yourself from anything, and everything causing pain, and struggle.
My heart goes out to non binaries, or anyone who struggle with self-image.
You are so amazing, and deserve everything good in life.
