lovers

You are waiting by the window, as your lover gets ready to marry for convenience. You used to work as their knight, and fell in love, so you planed the escape. You were waiting for the right moment, the oh so awaited moment, when everyone left the room of your beloved, covered in beautiful white flowers, surrounded by the perfect furniture of the always perfect room. There in the middle, stood your lover, their back to the window, stunning and sad demeanor as the evening sun disappeared between the dark clouds.

You jump from the window, dirty boots on the clean floor, thick jacket and a sword hanging from your waist. Your lover turns around at the sound of the wood cracking for the sudden weight, eyes hopeful and shining through the new darkness of the evening. They launch themselves into your arms, firmly and relieved. It took only one look into each others eyes, and your lover broke free, run across the room to get an already made backpack, putting a dark cloak over their shoulders, while you waited by the door, ready to fight whoever dared to show through.

Your lover looked at you, hopefully, scared, nervous, but with so much love and decision, that it didn't mater the differences in status, that the one in front of you was supposed to get married to someone else, that you where going straight into danger, without knowing what was going to happen next. None of that mattered, as their nervous smile appears in the darkness of the room. You sprint to the window, helping your lover get up there and then get their stuff in your back. You make them get down first, as you carefully watch the surroundings.

There's a knock on the door, as tries to open, every second with even more urgency. You look down at them, almost halfway through the vine, then at the door, where you hear people calling the name of your beloved. Thunder strikes, rain starts to fall, the door opens and your lover reaches the floor.

There's no time, with your heart pounding, your voice breaks the rain "Run!" and they look at you, eyes covered in fear, as you jump down, barely making a good landing, but getting up as quickly as possible, take their warm, soft hand into your own, though callously and rough, and run through the trees as you can slightly hear the sound of urgent yelling inside the castle. Both running to the safety of the forest, and into the horses that where ready out of the gates, your beautiful lover start laughing, such a happy smile in their mouth as both of you get away from the castle once called home. Nothing really mattered anymore, because you were together, and free.
