"Do you promise?" she asked, staring into those warm golden eyes. Its in a week. The wedding will unfold in a week. The king had set up a marriage with the neighbouring kingdom, for benefits would come falling down. But what about her? Her heart will not rest, for she longs to be with her lover. She chose the ordinary knight over the prince. No charm could capture her heart like he did.
"I will come, my lady. Do not fret. I promise," was what the young lad said to her. With their fingers clasped together, behind the castle walls. She felt hopeful, she really did. The princess dreamed of running away far, far that no one can find them. It would be just the two of them living a peaceful life. As the knight wrapped her in a warm embrace, she closed her eyes.
She felt safe. The night was like a living dream that she wanted to last forever. And so they stayed like that, while the night was getting older. "He'll come for me. He promised," she whispered to her heart. But he never came. After that night, they lost connection. There were no traces of the knight, her lover.
How could he had disappeared like that? How could he..? Her heart shattered into millions of pieces. She had tried going around the kingdom, asking everyone around. But she was met with s confusing silence. The princess kept meeting those pitiful eyes. And she hated it. She hated every single bit of it. The wedding is tomorrow. And she'll be wedded to the prince. She felt helpless, like a lonely bird in a cage. It was all lies. Her lover said he would come, and yet the knight was nowhere to be seen.
"He promised..."
