Chapter 24

❝After Effects❞

It has been a week now.

The week was one of agony for you. Everyone knew of the break up at this point, and being a volleyball team manager was more difficult than ever.

"Y/N, you can't go on like this," was what Kiyoko had said over the phone in your room.

"I've given up Kiyoko," you stated.

"But you loved him, that doesn't' go away," she stated.

Your eyebrows furrowed in anger, and you had to correct the statement that she made.

"I still love him; don't you dare say that I used to love him," you stated.

"See!" Kiyoko exclaimed, happy that she was getting something out of you.

"But he's happy with Emily; what can I do about it?" you said with a shrug, going back to giving up on your relationship.

Rather than having any form of hope to rekindle it.

"Fight for him!" Kiyoko exclaimed once again.

You knew that it was pointless; you just had to get your best friend to agree with how hopeless you feel about the future for you and Oikawa.

"He's the one who broke up with me Kiyoko, I can't just change his mind," you said with a sigh.

"Of course you can!" Kiyoko tried to cheer you up to give you some motivation.

"You have no idea how much it hurts! When I walk in school, and now I see the two of them together, being happy," you said.

You could already feel more tears are about to fall from your eyes, and you try to control them, but you didn't know how.

"We used to be like that," you finished with a whisper.

It was silent on the other side of the phone, and you didn't know if Kiyoko had hung up the phone. It would make sense; you are getting emotional now. Maybe Kiyoko didn't want to hear about it.

"This is more of a reason to fight for him, to tell him that whatever happened was a huge misunderstanding," Kiyoko said.

You wanted to believe that it was a possibility. But she didn't see the way that he looked at you, and it reminded you of why you broke up with her ex-boyfriend, Tetsurō Kuroo. Even though your ex-boyfriend was the one who caused this breakup, you knew you were never going to go back to him.

You realize now that you never loved your ex-boyfriend, that you loved Oikawa a lot more.

"I'll talk to you later," you told her.

She was about to say something else, convince you to do more for your already broken relationship, but you had already ended the call by then.

-

You were leaving your class at the moment, that was when you saw the two of them together. They looked happy. While you, on the other hand, looked like a mess.

It seemed as though maybe he never loved you in the first place. Not like you loved him. It didn't seem like he was missing your relationship at all. Instead, it seemed like a weight had lifted off my shoulders.

That hurt a lot more than you thought.

"Oh, look, Oikawa! It's your ex," Emily just had to say at the moment.

That was when the attention had moved away from his current girlfriend to you, Oikawa's ex-girlfriend.

You felt like you were rooted in one spot, and you couldn't look away. He didn't look at you the same way you looked at him; instead of the teasing smile or the look that he gave that showed that you're the only girl in the world, he looks at you with a cold glare.

You realized and that moment that it wouldn't be possible for him to get back with you. It seemed like he loved Emily a lot more than you. He was smiling around her; when he looked at you, he looked at you with either glare or with hurt in his eyes.

"Nice to see you too," you replied.

You gave them a fake smile, and you were about to walk away until she said,

"Looks like he's my boyfriend now," she said with a smirk on her face.

The look that she gave showed that she had won against you, and her prize was Oikawa.

But for once, you couldn't find it in yourself to care; it was just another piece of hurt on top of the pain that you've already felt these last couple of days.
