It was now late in the afternoon when Remus was slowly starting to flutter his eyes awake again from his long nap from earlier. The transformation last night was extremely rough on his body and he needed all the rest he could get. Luckily he had no broken bones this time around, only a couple of scratches that he realized were already patched up thanks to Madame Pomfrey.
The setting in the Hospital Wing was now alive and bustling with new and old faces walking in and out of the room. Remus tried his best to sit up straight to see if Rosemary was still sleeping beside him, but to his surprise she wasn't there.
Confused, he searched the room until he noticed she was completely on the other side across from him, recognizing her familiar scent. She was holding onto both Lenna Sow and Lily Evans trying to see if she could walk on her leg again while Madame Pomfrey supervised, but it was still too early to try an ambitious thing like that just yet. They were too far away for someone on his side of the room to listen in on their conversation, but luckily for him, he had his werewolf hearing to figure out what they were saying.
"Dear, I told you, walking on it right now won't do you any good." Madame Pomfrey told the girl sympathetically as Rosemary continued to grip the side of her friends arms, keeping her standing upright.
She let out a short sigh of defeat, wishing she could magically be able to walk like normal without feeling excruciating sharp pains all across her thigh. Even though she knew it was an absurd idea, she still had some inkling of hope she could wake up and everything would be back to the way things were twenty-four hours ago. But it wasn't going to be that simple.
"It was worth a try, Rose." Lenna told her friend supportively, looking at the disappointment on Rosemary's face, feeling extremely sorry for her. Rosie sighed again, still gripping on both girls' arms for support.
"But the first Quidditch match of the season is coming up soon, and I need to be Keeper. We'll lose if I'm not!" She complained stubbornly, trying to move on her leg again on her own but the pain was still too strong making her knees buckle from underneath her.
Thankfully, Lenna was very keen to notice when something bad was going to happen moments before they ever did, like animals before a dangerous storm, and used her quick reflexes to catch her friend before she fell to the ground, helping her stand up again.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible, Miss Merlow. You'll have to walk with a leg brace for a couple of weeks while it heals." Madame Pomfrey answered solemnly, making Remus gulp loudly, his guilt tripling in size.
"How long will that be?" Rosemary asked defeatedly, her eyebrows furrowing together still obviously distressed.
"About three weeks, my dear. Two, if you take good care of that nasty wound like I instructed you to do. Every evening before you go to sleep you will apply the Star Grass Salve on the surface of the wound, yes?" She said in a motherly tone, pointing her finger at the young girl shaking it in front of her.
"That means I'll miss the first game of the season, and Swanson will have to step in as my replacement." She let out in a long huff upset about the entire situation.
"I'm sure he's not that bad..." Lily tried making her feel better, but this only made Rosemary more passionately annoyed about the subject.
"Not that bad? He doesn't know his arse from his own elbow, and that's just on a regular day! On a broom, we're fuc-"
"Language." Madame Pomfrey warned, giving her a pointed look, making Rosemary blush sheepishly, muttering a sorry to the healer. Meanwhile, Remus and the other girls tried and failed to hold in their chuckles.
