Chapter 2. Nice To Meet You.

Katie's POV.

"Mrs. Scofield? Oh my God.", the guy gasped on seeing Mom on the floor.

We both ran towards Mom, me crouching down next to her just like before.

My heart felt like it would burst any fucking minute out of me.

I just hope this is not what I'm supposing it to be. I just hope.

"Mom wake up!", I almost cried.

"I'm calling the ambulance just a second.", the guy rushed with the words, and quickly dialled a number.

"Mom!", I patted her cheek.

I couldn't exactly listen to what that guy was saying on the phone, all of those sounds seemed to be muffled.

"They'll be here any minute.", the guy said to me, turning towards us, and bending down next to Mom, on the other side.

My eyes went to Mom's arm, which was gently held by the guy, and he was trying to check her pulse or something.

"The pulse is fine. She's gonna be fine don't worry.", the guy said softly, bringing his hand to mine, which was resting on Mom's stomach.

I gently nodded and the guy stood up on his feet.

After five minutes of sitting there, waiting for the help to arrive, I finally heard the alarms.

"They're here.", the guy said from the door.

Soon two men, dressed in white came into the cabin, carrying a stretcher.

A man, who was supposedly the doctor, came in after them, and bent down near Mom.

After checking her pulse, and her heartbeats with the stethoscope, he stood up.

"Shift her to the stretcher. And use the oxygen mask inside. Quick.", he told the nurses.

Obeying the instructions, the nurses lifted Mom from the floor, and rested her on the stretcher.

Seconds later, she was being carried out from the room, into the main lobby.

I followed them, and practically rushed inside, when they carried Mom inside the ambulance.

"Mom, you're gonna be fine.", I caressed her forehead, as I sat beside her.

I still don't know what happened to her all of a sudden.

She was all fine last night, then the next time I see her, she's in this condition.

I let out a heavy sigh, and relaxed on the bench.

The doctor came inside, and sat beside Mom, as the nurses set up the machines.

"How far is the hospital doctor?", I asked the doctor.

"Five minutes.", he said, and continued doing his work of checking Mom.

I felt the seat dipping at the side, so I turned my head to my right.

The guy who helped us inside, was sitting beside me, his eyes fixed on Mom.

He shifted his gaze to me, and brought up his hand to my shoulder, gently squeezing it.

I tried to smile at him, but I failed miserably.

I shifted my gaze to Mom, and continued caressing her forehead.

"Has she been a heart patient?", the doctor's voice came from the front, making me startled.

"Uhm, yes she is.", I almost whispered.

"This seems to be a minor heart attack.", the doctor said.

Heart attack?

I stared at him in disbelief, not being able to take in the truth.

My heart was throbbing underneath my skin, and I felt like I would throw up any minute.

As if realising how very shocked and worried I was, the doctor added, " But you don't need to worry. Thank God you guys reached in time. It's a minor one, so there's no risk of life in it. But we will carry about observations in the hospital, to know the exact situation."

I blinked a few times, and a lone tear escaped my eye, which I had been holding in for so long.

I shut closed my eyes, and opened them when I felt an arm around my shoulder.

I slowly looked in the guy's direction, and another lone tear fell off my eye.

"Please don't cry love. She'll be fine trust me. The doctor himself said there's no life risk. Please stop crying.", the guy said.

I nodded to him, and brought up my hand to wipe my eyes.

Pushing back the hair from my face, I sat back on the bench, making the guy remove his hand off my shoulder.

Within a few minutes, the ambulance stopped, indicating we had reached the hospital.

The doors opened, and bright light seeped in, making me blink a few times.

The nurses quickly carried Mom out, and into the hospital.

I got down from the ambulance, and followed them, accompanied by the guy.

"She's stable now. We have the situation under control, and she might be waking up in the next few hours.", the doctor told us.

A sigh of relief escaped my mouth, and I huffed.

"Thank you so much doctor.", I gave him a soft smile.

"It's our job honey.", he smiled back.

I nodded to him, and he turned to walk back inside the emergency.

I looked up to the guy, standing next to me, and I smiled.

"Finally you smiled! See I told you she'll be fine!", he chirped, as I walked to sit on the bench.

Taking the seat next to me, he relaxed.

"Thank you so much for the help. You helped us a lot. Thank you.", I smiled at him.

"Oh come on, it's fine. And stop thanking me. Mrs. Scofield has always been my favourite collegue. She's so cooperating and kind. I had to you know.", the guy smiled, making his eyes crinkle at the ends.

"She is.", I smiled.

"Okay sorry for asking this, but what's your name?", the guy said.

"I'm Katie.", I brought up my hand in front of him for a handshake.

"And you are?", I added.

"I'm Zayn.", he smiled, bringing up his hand to mine.

"Nice to meet you Zayn.", I smiled.

"Nice to meet you Katie.", he replied, removing his hand from mine, and placing it on his lap, a soft smile lingering on his face.

Okay so I pondered on the thought of whom should I cast as Katie.
