Noah's POV
Aurelia told me to leave first because she said both her and Amy are having 'girl talk' and God knows how long it'll take when two girls who haven't seen each other in forever catch up. I decided to go back to our home to finish up some last-minute work. I was sitting in my study room for about an hour when suddenly my phone rang. It was from an unknown caller. I picked it up regardless.
"Hello?" I spoke.
"Noah! My man! I'm in the States right now. Can we catch up?" Tyler said enthusiastically.
"Tyler! What's up? What brings you to the States?" I questioned.
"Boss sent me out here to finish some tasks." He simply replied but his simple reply made my stomach churn. I felt myself getting ready to throw up. My hands started to tremble.
They couldn't possibly know could they?
"That's great! Erm.. I could do right now if that's fine with you." I tried to speak calmly but if Tyler could see me, he would see me trembling and shaking with fear.
"Yeah right now is fine with me. There's this bar down the street of the hotel I'm staying at. Jon's." Tyler said.
"Yeah. I'll meet you there in about thirty minutes." With that I hung up the phone.
I took a few minutes to compose myself. I need to stay calm. I can't risk Aurelia's safety. I went down to the basement and grabbed the keys to my Audi R8 and drove off to meet Tyler. I would ask him in person the reason he was really here. No one was there except for both Tyler and I. And I remember Tyler packed up and left when I told him to. The whole thirty-minute drive was full of possible scenarios and thoughts that could happen. I know now that Aurelia really needs to be safe but she's at Amy's house right now. I dropped her a text saying I was going to the office to handle some stuff. I reached Jon's and passed my keys to the valet. I went into the bar. It was filled with college students and older men who were watching football on the television while drinking. I spotted Tyler sitting by the window with a beer in his hand.
"Hey Tyler." I greeted.
"Noah my man!!" Tyler got up and gave me a bro hug.
"How's everything?" I asked after ordering myself a beer.
"Good. Been here for a couple of days and getting settled in." He said and took a chug of beer.
"That's great. What mission is it? Richard barely sends you here." I noted.
"Well, since you've quit, he has to go for the second-best choice which is me." He proudly said.
"What's the mission about?" I asked. I was nervous but I tried not to show it. I don't know if Tyler would tell me since I was part of the organization. We can't really tell our missions to outsiders.
"Dude, you know I can't tell you that." Tyler said.
"We've been friends since we were young and I was part of the organization." I eased him up to tell me. I needed to know.
"You know Ethan James the guy you killed?" Tyler lowered his voice and said.
"Yeah." The color must have drained from my face now.
They know.
"His daughter is still alive." Tyler maintained a stoic expression.
"Oh." Was all I could say. I'm sure by now my face is as pale as a piece of paper. My mouth was suddenly dry.
"Which is weird because I clearly remember you saying that you would take care of her." Tyler hummed.
"I.. I.."
