Axel: the angry boi

Axel slammed the hockey ball into the back fence in annoyance, Elliot was busy for the day at the Myers household down the street for a "summer barbeque", Axel hadn't been invited since the Myers twins didn't like him much. Especially Onyx who was a stuck up prick in his own right but Axel didn't have time to think about that. His real problem was Mika Stone, they were friends but he was worried that the purple haired teen would try and get in the way of his chances with Elliot again.

It had almost been two years since he and Elliot broke up due to Axel's careless mistake of choosing a queen over his relationship with the blond and he'd been trying to repair their friendship ever since.

He walked over to the patio table and grabbed his water bottle, pulling the lid off with his teeth, he took a few gulps before picking his phone up and seeing a message from a certain blond. He opened the message and saw a photo of Elliot with a double chin and sunglasses on sipping a Capri sun with what Axel guessed was Mika and Owen Myers having an argument in the background with the caption "finally some good entertainment" and a laugh cry emoji. It made Axel laugh, everything Lio did made him laugh, but not in a 'making fun of him' way but in the good way where Elliot laughed along too.

Axel sent a selfie back, his face was covered in sweat but he knew Elliot wouldn't care what he looked like, he added the caption "what are they arguing about this time?" with a laugh cry emoji.
He set his phone down when his dad came out into the back garden, sunglasses and trucker hat on with an expensive beer to contradict any chance of his family looking poor,
'Here, go grab yourself a beer- we need to talk.' his dad said after sitting at the patio table, Axel nodded and jogged into the house, passing his older brother and mother who were having an in depth conversation about the history of Oswald Academy. He grabbed a beer from the fridge and headed back into the garden and sat down opposite his old man.
'What's up?' he asked and his dad set his beer down and adjusted his hat, Axel averted his gaze, knowing exactly what his dad wanted to talk about. It was the same conversation they'd always had together since him and Elliot broke up;
'Don't let Elliot distract you this year, you have too much to lose and your progress will all go to waste. You're the king of the ravens, you don't want to disappoint your clan this season for your matches. You're doing great but you can do better. Just keep following the routine me and your mother set out for you and we can get you into that university you wanted to go to.'
'You mean the one you want me to go to, dad, I'm not even sure if I want to play hock-' his dad cut him off with a clenched fist on the table between them,
'Listen here, boy. You will be playing hockey at the same university all of us in the house went to- your mother went there to play on the women's team, I went there and got captain on the men's team and your brother went there to be captain on his team. You're not going to destroy the legacy for us by going somewhere else just because Elliot's not going to follow after you.' Axel sighed and opened his beer,
'Okay.' he muttered and his dad did the same sigh as Axel,
'Don't just "okay" me, kid. This is your future we're planning for you- the least you can do is not throw it away for the chance to be with your ex boyfriend.'
'Partner. Lio's using them/they pronouns today.' The brunette muttered and his dad sighed again,
'I don't give a toss what pronouns he's using, he's not here. I'm calling him that because that's what I've known him as since he was born.' Axel stood up after setting his beer down and walked off to the end of the garden, ignoring his dad calling after him.
He picked up his hockey stick and started slamming hockey balls into the fence until he couldn't feel his arms.
