Owen sat on the edge of his bed, loud music blasting through his speakers as his parents argued for the third time that week. Onyx had friends he could escape with whilst the brunette had no one. He fell onto his back and thought about Mika.

Something changed between them the day before and he didn't want to admit it in the slightest. 'ah, depression.' he muttered to himself, running a hand over his neck where the older teen had kissed his jaw softly that morning, 'shit.'

Mika: hey, do you still want me to come back round?

Owen: no, can I go yours instead, I need to get out of this shithole.

Mika: sure- My grandma is currently on holiday with Royal- I'll come get you- Elliot needed my help with something.

Owen sighed and switched his phone off, grabbing his bag and shoving in clothes he'd wear the day after. He left his room with the music still blaring out of his speakers as he walked between his parents and out the front door without them showing an ounce of care. He waited outside as Mika pulled up and nodded over to himself. The brunette walked over and got in the passenger seat and partially slammed the door shut.

Mika started the car up and they drove up to the purple haired teens house. Owen put his hand over the older teens thigh and shuffled back slightly against his seat. They locked eyes for a moment and Owen watched as Mika raised an eyebrow at him,

'What are they arguing about?' he asked and Owen let out a bored sigh,

'Why do you care?'

'Because it's made you upset. That's why, pretty sure you're not the type of person to willingly leave their house, so talk to me. What was it this time?' Owen felt his heart rate quicken for a moment and he attempted to shake the feeling away before answering,

'My mum was arguing with my dad about how if I'd never met Mandy I never would've become such a fucking disappointment and that I'd be a kind and caring child, which is bullshit.' Owen explained and he looked at the older teen, Mika's knuckles turning white from the grip he had on the steering wheel,

'Fuck. Fuck them. What the fuck. Imagine calling your son a fucking disappointment just because his best friend fucking died. Thats- shit... I'm sorry.' Mika muttered, removing his hands from the steering wheel after he pulled up to a curb, he took Owens hand and looked over at the brunette, 'You're not a disappointment, you're still getting over her death- it hasn't even been a year yet. That shit takes time. My parents died when I was a kid- it took me ages to get over it. Your parents need to be more patient with you. This isn't fair, how they're treating you like shit just because you've changed. Of course you've changed, she was your best friend- before she- she was the person who calms you down when you got too angry, she was your control. Of course you're not going to be the same as you were when you guys were friends.'

'Fucking tell them that, whenever their around me they keep on going on and on about how her- her death shouldn't have affected me and that she was just a useless girl who was too fucking weak.' Owen watched as Mika put his hands back on the steering wheel and did a complete U-turn,

'I will fucking tell them that.' the older teen muttered as he drove back down towards the younger teens house,

'Why? We've never even had a full fucking conversation until yesterday, so why would you fucking care about what they said?' the brunette asked and Mika glanced over at him before ignoring his comment and continuing to drive.

Mika badly parked in front of Owen's house and headed to the front door. Part of Owen wanted to go and stop him but the other part of him was intrigued enough to just want to go in and see what would happen.

He sighed and got out of the car knowing it would probably be better for him to stop the older teen before shit hit the fan, he grabbed Mika's arm as the older teen rang the doorbell, he was two seconds too late.

'Fuck, Mika- you don't need to talk to my parents about this shit-'

'I don't care.' Mika half snapped and Owen's eyes widened for a moment in surprise.

Even when they had argued in the past Mika was the one who always kept a cool tone of voice and never raised it. This was new. This was different and Owen didn't know what was going to happen when that front door opened. He didn't like the feeling of not knowing.
