A Change of Heart?

Luna remembered bits and pieces of what happened next, but most of it was completely blank. Even those memories though were distorted by the pain. She woke up some time later. The pain in her shoulder, arm, back and side were excruciating. Suddenly an image of that horrible creature flashed before her eyes and in a panic She sat up quickly, making the pain worse.

"Luna, LUNA! Hey! It's ok! You're safe now." Looking to her right, Luna was able to see Izuku watching her with worry in his eyes. His arms around her as best he could without making her injuries worse as he attempted to soothe the panic across her features. "Hey, you're in the infirmary. Nothing's gonna hurt you anymore." Turning around to face the new voice, she saw Kirishima and Bakugou to her left. Kirishima was smiling, kneeling by her bedside, while Bakugou did his usual glare and was leaning back against the wall.

She took a few deep breaths trying to calm her racing heart but she felt a sharp stab of pain go through her side. "Hey take it easy recovery girl did her best, but you had some pretty serious injuries." Izuku said as he gently laid her back down and took her hand in his. She winced and looked up at the three of them, "What...what happened? I blacked out and everything's a blur."

"Well All Might showed up and kicked that villains ass. Your friend Izuku here busted up his legs again trying to help, but in the end those two big bad dudes got away." Kirishima told her.

"Was anyone else hurt? What about Mr. Aizawa?"

"Don't worry, he's fine. He-"

"You should be worried about yourself." Bakugou cut Izuku off. "Your wing was completely broken and the other had a small fracture. What the hell was your dumbass thinking going after that monster like that? I told you to get Aizawa out of there and NOT try to fight that thing! Recovery Girl was barely able to save your wing, you could've lost it." Bakugou pushed off the wall he had been leaning on and walked out of the room, refusing to even hear her response.

"What's his problem?" Luna asked the guys, as she watched him exit the room with wide eyes. Unable to fully understand what could have made him blow up at her so badly.

"I think it's just his way of saying he cares." Kirishima smiled and stood up. "I'm going to go get Recovery Girl, she should know you're finally awake."

As Kirishima walked out, she looked over at Izuku, "How long was I out for?" She asked him.

"About two days."

"WHAT?"

"Hey calm down! Recovery Girl had to do some major healing on you. It took up most of her stamina. We actually didn't expect you to be awake until tomorrow." Izuku looked down and Luna could tell something was on his mind. "What is it Izuku, spit it out." She smiled encouragingly through her pain at him.

"Well Kacchan is right Luna. You could've lost your wing completely, or worse. That villain had every intention to kill you and he would have if All Might had been even a second later. You need to be more careful."

She wanted to feel annoyed by his words but She just couldn't bring herself to do it. Izuku and Bakugou were right. She had been reckless, thinking only of the desired outcome and not all the possibilities. But what else was she supposed to do at that time?

"I understand your worry Izuku, but in the moment I didn't know what else to do. Mr Aizawa was injured badly, I didn't want to fight that thing but I figured I could at least knock it off guard for a split second and escape with him. Honestly, if you hadn't yelled when you did it may have worked, but your yell caught its attention and it saw me. I understand my plan was reckless and for that I'm sorry, but it was the best idea I could come up with." Luna finished and looked up at him to see him staring at her with a look of surprise on his face.
