house

when we started living together, after i'd finally finished college, we bought our first house at the outskirts of tokyo. (see timeskip chapter in manga)

kenma started off renting it, but then when i moved in, we both decided to renovate it, and eventually made it our own.

it's a nice japanese style home, but a little more modern since we had to accommodate kenma's modern hobby. ah, i shouldn't say hobby anymore, now that he made it his job.

but since i grew up in a quite traditional japanese home, and he admired that, we both decided on this house. a bit of both worlds. my traditional side, and his modern job.

the living spaces just had plain furniture we bought quickly from the furniture store and the bare necessities we needed. we only splurged on his gaming room, of course. with all of its monitors, arcades, speakers, pc and such.

the rest of the house was simply decorated. i tried my best to bring in as many traditional japanese furniture and floorings. the tatami room was my favorite room, so i spent a lot of time making it look nice, with the chabudai and tatami mats. we would bring out the kotatsu all year round, sometimes even in the summer, just because of how cozy it felt.

it was slightly strange, how his one gaming room contrasted with the rest of the house. but it worked for us. and we fell in love with it.

the location of the house was not as convenient for me, since my job was in tokyo, unlike kenma who worked online the majority of the time. but i didn't mind. it was only about 30 minutes commute by train anyway.

and kenma made up for it by giving me my own music room. with a whole piano and all, since i played piano as a hobby. and also when i had my accompanist, or my colleagues come over for small rehearsals. it was convenient.

that room was my second favorite, with soundproof walls so not to bother kenma's gaming in the room next door. it was decorated simply, with a nice window that let in just the right amount of air, and overlooked our front yard and the small koi pond we had outside.

the walls of the room proudly hung all of the awards i'd won in competitions, some dating all the way back to my junior high school years.

i loved our house. we both did. but it wasn't only a house, it was our home. a home we had worked towards, and our hard work had payed off. it was a milestone in our relationship, in our life. it was the place we would live and walk through life in, together.

and eventually, raise children.

a/n: okay so i'm actually not sure if i'll ever add chapters of them two with kids, but i just added that last part just in case i do decide on it lol

let me know if u guys want to see that! i think it'd be fun to write too
