a.n: It's bad, cliché, and I want to cry. I want to slap myself. I'M SORRY.

Mikey:

My earphones have been stuck in my ears ever since my shift began, blasting loud music that came from a phone tucked in a pocket of my khaki work jeans. I was fully familiar with the rules that also contained one special rule created especially for me – no cell phones in work. It was written in a small black print, hanging literally everywhere, well, only where workers could spot it.

Since today was the day when Andy was keeping an eye on Target, I could have afforded listening to music during work. The boss was out of town, like every Monday, and Andy let us be less under control than the other days.

I hated it here, I truly did. I just didn't know what I couldn't stand more, getting the lowest salary but at least have some money, or those fucking posh kids from rich families that didn't have to move a finger just because their parents could have afforded to pay them even for their own flat.

I was working every second day after school from five to one am. In fact, it was often genuinely way too exhausting. I guess this is going to be one of those days where I will come back to dorm drained as fuck, only to wake up the other day and study all afternoon.

Plus I was still tired from yesterday. I came back to my room around three am, after Hailey's been doing a fool out of me the whole night. She was flirting with that fuck boy, brushing her skin against his “by accident”, touching him during every occasion, laughing at his jokes which weren't funny at all, by the way. But God knows what would happen if I let them alone by themselves.

My thoughts were cut off by a girlish voice coming out of a familiar looking girl. I swear I've already seen those blue eyes somewhere...

“Michael? Is that you?”

I quickly took one earphone out and tucked it under my red shirt.

The girl stood in front of me with a basket full of grocery she was holding in one hand. She was looking at me in disbelief, like she just saw an alien in the middle of Target.

“Uh...”

I didn't know how to respond. I know I've already met her but I couldn't remember where...

“Grace? Biology classes, remember?”

As soon as I remembered, a huge smile appeared on my face. Of course I remember her, it's Grace. Who wouldn't remember Grace from my year – the hottest girl out of whole high school. She gave me my first blow job when I was fifteen during her sixteenth birthday party in her parent's closet. We began to date but it lasted only for like a month. Well, she was my first love.

She didn't change at all, she was still very appealing. Tall, skinny, tanned, black locks of hair were falling on her back just like they always have.

“I can't believe you're working here!” She showed her perfect white teeth while she smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder.

“I can't believe it either,” I laughed. “How are you?”

“I'm great, I moved out of Australia as soon as I finished high school. I'm currently living in New York, studying fashion.”

“Oh, really? That's so cool that you fulfilled your dream.”

“I know right? What about you?”

“Well, it's not New York, but I'm on Sydney's college.”

“Still pretty cool though.” She genuinely smiled and pulled a piece of hair behind her ear.

“Yeah, I guess.”
