Lily POV:

The next day, I decide that I'm just gonna do the same thing I do every time. Ignore Potter as much as I can, and get on with my own life. But if I'm honest, I'm sick of this game and I just want Potter to leave me alone. I don't see how he thinks anything good could come from continuing this stupid stuff.

I walk through the Courtyard, glancing around to see if anyone was there and I spot Sev. He seems to be reading but every so often he picks up a black quill and makes notes in it. He's always making notes in that book. He never lets me see though. I guess that's just another secret.

"Hey." I say.

"Hey." he says, putting down his book and smiling. But then his brow furrows, is it that obvious I'm annoyed? I sit down next to him.

"Are you OK?" Sev asks.

"Not really..." What am I meant to say? Oh yes I'm fine just stressing out about every little detail of life on a daily basis. I mean that's how it feels.

"What? Has Pratty Potter been proposing to you again?" he asks jokingly. I laugh halfheartedly.

"Does that really need to be answered?" I say. There's a pause, and I can see a familiar glint in Sev's eyes.

"There is something wrong with that group..." Severus says, thinking.

"What do you mean, they're idiots, isn't that enough?" I say, though I know where it's going.

"Well, it's that Lupin-" he says.

"I know what you think-"

"It all fits-"

"It's probably none of our business."

"None of our business!" Severus sounds astounded "If there is one of them hanging around here, I would like to know! Besides, anything to bring those bullies down a peg or two is definitely my business."

I know Severus' case from many past discussions with him. Although I finds the group of Gryffindors unbearable at times, if Remus Lupin is a werewolf, he definitely won't want too many people to find out. Plus he's about the only one I can live with at times.

I sigh and change the subject.

"Why don't you try to fight back more?" I ask.

Severus hesitates, he knows I don't want to talk about Lupin. But he goes on.

"Lily, I'm always outnumbered." he responds, "I wouldn't stand a chance even if I tried!"

He probably would stand a chance, but over the years, the things the bullies have said and done to him have gotten through. Well sometimes they have... other times he... well... lets just say he finds his fight.

"I would fight with you." I say. Sev looks at me.

"You- you would?" he stutters.

I don't know why he sounds so surprised.

"Of course! Any chance to beat 'the famous James Potter' and his cronies!" I reply.

"I would love to see Potter's reaction to some of the spells I've learnt." he says, dreamily looking away with a small smirk on his face. I look around sharply at this. Oh no.

"Wait, you haven't been learning more from those Slytherins, have you?" I ask, "Mulciber, Avery and that lot?"

"Why can't I?" asks Severus, defensively.

"I've told you Sev! I don't like that crowd!"

"What's wrong with them?" asks Severus.

Oh for goodness sake. How many times do I need to tell him?
